Should have got my facts straight. I thought this goverment was chosen in a democratic way after the coup-goverment left. Any way, I am glad to here things are settling down in Thailand.justTripn wrote:Also, panyasan, the current government was put in place by a military coupe. It seems that military coupes are at least as common as elections in Thailand.

Re: The Upsetting News Thread
Dunno if this goes here yet. I'm hoping not, but I need some support. I had a mammogram yesterday am at 10, was whisked to the ultrasound room immediately afterwards and by 3 pm I was in the surgeon's office getting a breast biopsy under local anesthesia. I spent the evening yesterday high on Lortab, wondering whether all that fast action was just everybody bending over backwards to get me in quickly because I had an MD on the end of my name or because the mammogram just looked that damn awful. Didn't sleep much. Pathology should be back Friday. I need prayer/good vibes/karma... anything you can send I'll take.

Good vibes, good vibes, good vibes. These are so often false alarms, but of course that doesn't make it any less terrifying to wait for biopsy results.
In my experience they do move fast once they decide they need to check on something. I've had a few biopsies myself, but they all came back negative. Hope yours does, too.

Prayers & positive thoughts on the way. I've had 6 mammograms and was sent for ultrasounds after 4 of them. I know how nervous you must be.

Let us know what's up as soon as you can.

Good vibes coming atcha from OKC. That and a healthy dose of prayer.

Positive vibes sent your way, Distracted!
I feel sheepish telling you not to worry at this point - you are the doctor. But I do remember going to a doctor for a fainting spell I had - and the doctor nodded and sending me to a cardiologist that afternoon. I said, "can't I do it next week?" - and she force-smiled and said "no, you have to go right away."
Needless to say, I freaked. But a battery of unpleasant tests later, the cardiologist gave me the very scientific diagnosis - "I guess you're just a fainter."
So, hopefully, your tests will clear up the worry. Medical scares are never fun.

Re: The Upsetting News Thread
Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the support. Unfortunately, honeybee, this is one of those times when too much knowledge just makes things worse. At one time I was considering becoming a radiologist, so I did more radiology electives than average in med school and I still remember a little bit about reading ultrasounds. I was sitting right next to the radiologist when he read mine. As soon as he pointed to the place he was concerned about my first reaction was, "Boy, that one doesn't look good. It needs a biopsy." Only then did it really register that I was looking at MY ultrasound.
So being a doctor is not a good thing in this particular situation. I'd much rather be blissfully ignorant. Fortunately, I'm also aware that the odds are very good that this thing is benign. It's just that a 2% chance of cancer is a 100% chance for the person who gets the cancer, and I'm high risk based on family history. Having you guys to vent to helps, though. Thanks for listening.

I know how you feel I dread going to Neurological tests with my mom. I know way too much. However you do what you need to do including rant your head off if need be. But always remember, positive attitude works miracles.
Whatever the odds are you have strength, and Jah gives more.

I somehow missed this post earlier. You know you are always in my prayers, D. It must be very frightening for you. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. I'm sending along good, healthy vibes to you.

I'm thinking nothing but positive thoughts, Distracted.
Hopefully, this is just another false alarm.
