Well... I had a rather interesting night... Full of super-cell storms, lightning, thunder, huge black clouds that rotated and spawned a couple short-lived tornados to the north. Yup, interesting...

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with Samantha Quinn? She inspired me enought to want to recycle one of her ideas into a P/T fan fic and I wanted her permission first.

A riot, though I couldn't get to page 2 and I don't think my rating registered either. I think the site is just overloaded right now with everyone trying to read and rate. I ended up giving up.

Well, they aren't the only ones. We got a couple of the new $1 coins at work (putting my dues in at Subway to pay for my higher education) and nobody wants them as change. The government keeps saying, "Other countries have dollar coins! We can do it too!" and I'd just like to point out that every dollar coin gets the same reaction. The Sacajawea coins came out when I worked at McDonald's, and nobody wanted those either. Americans apparently don't like dollar coins. Personally, I'm neutral on the subject of receiving them.

But I'd love to get one of those new Canadian ones. No more student loans then!

I don't like dollar coins because they aren't practical - I can carry dollar bills in my wallet, and they weigh a lot less. Sorry, but I'm not big on change rattling around in my pocket like dinner bells for someone to mug me or something.

don't complain. just wait until they issue $2 coins as well as $1 ones. In Canada, cargo pants have to be sold with extra reinforcement in the pockets so money doesn't fall out while we dogsled around.

We've had $1 coins for 20 years now...I remember being 7 and my mom showing me the first one and me thinking, "Loonies? But won't all the other countries laugh at us?" I shouldn't have worried. 11 years ago, in 1996, our $2 coin was invented, and we creative Canucks called it, wait for it: the "Toonie". (Rhymes with "Loonie" see? Smart.) And "Toonie" distracted from the stupidness of "Loonie". Smart.

I wrote an impassioned letter to the then minister for the mint, begging to be spared the horrors of the "Foonie" (yes, we ALREADY refer to it as that in the papers and whatnot even though it doesn't exist yet)....the $5 coin. He said they had "no current plans" for one. Right.
