The Sound of Music.
The reason is evident!
BTW, may we see the end of this story, one fine day? :)
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Trip would choose My Fair Lady simply because "he's grown accustomed to her face."
T'Pol would choose Candide because I think the idea of a man searching for truth in his own individual "Utopia" would appeal to her.

Q: If Malcolm doesn't die a bachelor in the E2 timeline, who does he end up with? Why? How did it happen? Did they have kids? If so, what career(s) did his kid(s) have on Enterprise? Your answer to the first part CANNOT be either Hoshi or T'Pol.

*pout* Why not Hoshi?

Okay. I can buy that he had no offspring. That's canon. Just because he didn't have kids, though, didn't mean he didn't find love somewhere. And if I can't pick Hoshi, then I'll pick Chef...so there! Malcolm fell in love with the man's pineapple upsidedown cake and decided he was gay after all.

Q: Keeping in E2 mode, we know that Phlox ended up with Amanda AND Cutler (I think), Archer married off ship, TnT were together, and Hoshi married some Japanese dude. What about Travis?

I think Travis said something about being with Corporal McKenzie. Hoshi asked him before they ran into poor Malcolm in the Mess Hall.

Cross-franchise question, for Harry Potter fans:

The Four Houses of Hogwarts are: Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffyindor. If each member of the senior staff (plus Chef, Cutler, Rostov and Hayes) had the Sorting Hat placed on their head, where would they end up? Would anyone be in Slytherin?

For those of us who've managed to avoid HP like the plague, can you give us a run-down of the houses and their cardinal qualities so we can play too?

Oh man. Avoiding Harry Potter. That's just so sad! Can't you sneak it past the kiddies in brown paper bags?

Okay, then, how about an alternate question? (If anyone still wants to answer the original question, go ahead. Unfortunately, I had to be knowledgable in HP to talk intelligently to some of my former students when I was teaching... :? )

Q: All right, who would be most likely to:

1) have a collection of something in their quarters that seems at odds with their personality?
2) be the most interested in obscure factoids?
3) the most likely to try an new alien alcoholic drink at an alien bar?
4) take in an orphan?
5) write his/her own memoirs?

1) have a collection of something in their quarters that seems at odds with their personality?

Can't be Travis, because he doesn't have enough of one. Can't be Phlox, because we'd believe anything. I'd pick Hoshi because she needs it most.

2) be the most interested in obscure factoids?

Travis. Though Archer does like to pull them out of his butt when bullshitting aliens, so maybe it's actually him.

3) the most likely to try an new alien alcoholic drink at an alien bar?

Phlox, Trip or Hoshi

4) take in an orphan?

Trip.

5) write his/her own memoirs?

Archer

Um, follow-up questions:

Who would make the funniest drunk? / Who would make the most morose drunk?

And what WOULD be the item utterly at odds with someone's personality that you would find in his or her quarters? Pick one or two characters and guess.

I'm still stuck on the HP question. Hmmm.

From what I can gather, Gryffindor values courage, daring, and chivalry, Hufflepuff likes loyalty, hard work, tolerance and fair play, Ravenclaw values intelligence, creativity, wit and wisdom, and Slytherin likes ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness... and only takes purebloods. So...

Archer- Gryffindor
T'Pol- Ravenclaw
Trip- Hufflepuff
Malcolm- Slytherin
Hoshi- Ravenclaw
Phlox- Hufflepuff
Hayes- Slytherin
Cole- Gryffindor
Cutler- Hufflepuff
Chef - Ravenclaw
Rostov- Slytherin

I'll let the last question stand.

Mmm. I don't think any of our heroes would be in Slytherin, but you did very well for an HP neophyte!

I don't know, Alelou. I think, based on Wiki's dry explanation of House characteristics, Dis actually nailed her assessments. Based on that one article, it is conceivable that some of the Enterprise "heroes" could be sorted to Slytherin. One would have to have read the books or seen all the movies to truly understand the inherent evil in most of the Slytherin faithful, ie Voldemort, Malfoy, et al.

And I think Reed is actually very appropriate for Slytherin, especially given his Section 31 background. Let's not forget there were some HP characters who were considered "good" or who turned out to be "good" and were of the House Slytherin: Tonks and Snape

All in all, I found Dis's list to be rather accurate!

Yes, I agree with Distracted's "sorting" of the Enterprise crew except for one, Trip. I think I would have sorted Trip into Ravenclaw because he's always struck me as more inherently intelligent, creative, witty, wise but chooses to be hard-working, tolerant, fair play, and loyal. :)

Somehow, I picture Malcolm as the most morose drunk. As for funniest... let's say Travis. He is into practical jokes, after all. *shrugs* Not like I'm a great person to be answering this as I've happily managed to avoid drunk people thus far in life... but anyway.

Now, part 2. How's this for an item at odds with someone's personality: Archer has a copy of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations. (For those of you unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, these are a big part of Stoicism which denies emotion.)

Okay, a question: match each member of the NX-01 senior staff with a future Trek character who most admires them.
