Hmm well... I wouldn't say that Epcot and Sea world are not worth the money. Because both parks are pretty awesome. It's just one of those things where you realize that unless you have money to burn, this is something that you will likely have to save up for and realize that you will be spending a ton of money. It like everything else is a choice... That said I loved it, and I was 14 when I went, not some wide-eyed baby. Not that I wouldn't have loved it as a little kid. But teens in general are moody and jaded. And my wheelchair was never once an issue which rocked!
Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

I've been to Orlando 4 times and I love it! You've got Sea World, Epcot, Disney''s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, Universal's two parks (the new Harry Potter park will be open soon if it isn't already, and Cape Canaveral. What's not to love? Two of the times I went was just my hsuband and myself. There's plenty to do no matter what your age or interests. Yes, it is expensive, but as WaprGirl says it's worth saving for. And of course there are ways to save some money if you are savy.

Re: The Whine thread.
You should be able to see exactly what the rates are by going googling the sites. If you know what day you are going you can sometimes save a little money by buying your tickets ahead of time. May can be a really nice time down there. The snow birds have gone back home, school is still in session, and the weather usually hasn't gotten really brutal yet (though undoubtedly a Swede will find it hot).

Re: The Whine thread.
Okay, who falls down in parking lot on their way IN to a bar???
(*raises hand*)
Yup. Not my proudest moment. The gang at the salon took me out for my birthday drink last night, and as I was crossing the parking lot from my car to the bar, my toe caught a piece of uneven pavement and before I knew it I was down. It hurt, but I just shook it off the best I could--I didn't even really bother to go to the restroom and check it out because my jeans hadn't been ripped. I just went in and drank my beers and ate my cheese sticks.
Later I saw I was scraped/burnt and bruised pretty bad on one knee, and lightly on the other. The heels of my hands probably would've gotten it, too, if I didn't have gloves on.
So I still didn't figure it was that big a deal. People fall all the time, right?
I woke up at about 5:30 this morning in a ton of pain, took an Aleve, and tried to go back to bed but it didn't work. I almost couldn't walk but I HAD to go to school today as I had a chem test. I went ahead and went to yoga, if only to show the instructor why I couldn't participate, but I ended up trying any way and she gave me some different poses to do to accommodate the knee, and I ended up feeling a bit looser when it was over, and I had a better sense of how I can and can't bend it. Instructor looked at it and said I'd still have two or three days of limping to go, but she gave me some tips to help it to keep from stiffening up too much.

I know but somehow it seems more forgivable if it'd happened after my five beers...

Re: The Whine thread.
Sorry WarpGirl!
Aquarius.
I've never been to Disney World but I would love to go. Here in Pittsburgh I live 5-10 minutes away from Kennywood Park, an old-fashioned amusement park famous for it's awesome rollar coasters, including several old wooden antiques and the more modern Steel Phantom, which includes a 232 foot drop on the second hill (basically you fall off the side of a cliff toward the river). During the summer we can see the fireworks they set off at Kennywood from our house. We used to go once or twice each summer with discount tickets we bought ahead of time. Those were the days. We'd leave at 10:00am and get back at 11:30 or midnight. We used to strategically pick July 5th as the big day to go: everyone would be partied out from the Fourth of July and the lines would be shorter. We'd also watch the weather looking for about a 30% chance of rain: just enough to scare off some of the other customers, and even if it did rain, it wouldn't rain all day.
And it was the one day a year for extremely tacky clothing, as in a bathing suit and shorts, so you could ride the water rides, get wet, and dry off by riding the next breezy ride.

The short count:
Four more days (including today) until I am out of work.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Oh dear!
Do you have your projects lined up at home? Will there be a retirement party?

Re: The Whine thread.
Be extra kind and gentle to yourself. That's such a loss, no matter how much we think we've wrapped our heads around it ahead of time.
On the other hand, sometimes it can also be a great opportunity to move onto more interesting stuff. Eventually....

Re: The Whine thread.
I empathize Aquarius! But ya gotta drag yourself to work anyway. These last days are just dragging for me, I already feel I don't belong here. And yes, I have a ton of projects from writing to job hunting. And I am instituting an exercise schedule because I think that will stave off depression. Aquarius, can you take a day off? Sometimes that helps. Or do you have set appointments with people? LOL, the hair place I go to is the fast food variety - walk in only. But they don't do much with my long hair anyway because I won't let them do anything but trim the ends.

Ah, Jane Eyre. The crazy wife in the tower. Pyro time! Standing on the burning roof, cackling, swinging a burning faggot! Cathartic release! What a way to go!

Re: The Whine thread.
Today I hit a car while driving out of the parking lot at my house. It wasn't serious or anything since we were both driving very slowly. I don't think I'd even shifted from first gear. But it was so slippery that even though I braked when the other car was coming into the parking lot, my car just kept gliding. I got no dent on my car that I could see, but the other one (a big new BMW) got a really, really small one on the front.
Gah! So now we'll have to hassle with the insurance companies. At least it wasn't anybody's fault. It was the damn weather.
