The Bridge?

That's the new section of general Enterprise fics Elessar is collecting admissions for. You ought to submit something. Try a Chef fic or a Travis fic.

"Fury" should never have even made it onto the drawing board, never mind off it. The only apt thing about that was the title, because it made me furious. All of the sudden Angry!Vengeful!Kes comes back to kill people on Voyager with no real explanation for how she went from being sweet and loving to angry and vengeful.

"Threshold" was another bomb. Two words: lizard babies. And these poor lizard babies, being somewhat inconvenient after their use as a weak attempt a humor, were abandoned. Chakotay - who was supposed to be kind and gentle - abandoned them. Tuvok gave tactic approval. Then Janeway and Paris were unconcerned, having a good joke about it after. Child Services should be all over them when those logs get made public...

The entire VOY series was badly done. People talk about character assasination on T'Pol, but Janeway was dead before she started. She was a social worker/mommy, not a ship's captain. Except for the rare occasions when she displayed rampant and irrational bouts of PMS. A little sanity please? A dash of professionalism? Perhaps even a smidgeon of dignity? I won't even ask for intelligence, since this is ST after all.

My personal favorite gripe has been said before by others, but it bears repeating. The Borg queen was a BAD IDEA.

The whole Borg collective was a stroke of brilliance, plainly NOT the idea of TPTB. They were a fresh and new concept that were actually chilling. Alien. Dangerous. Difficult to understand and therefore hard to defeat. More advanced than we are. Fast to adapt. *Frightening*

Then they turned them into a hive of honeybees with Cruella De Ville for a queen. Sheesh! Gimme a break!

From a technical standpoint, warp drive is the big no-no... lets face it, the concept of breaking the light speed barrier makes most physicists run for the hills!

They should have stuck to folding space, subspace or wormholes... then again... they can never please everyone!

Ok, I have a new question:

If each member of the command crew was not human(or Vulcan in T'Pol's case) what would they be?

And if Porthos wasn't a dog, what would he be?

^ Everyone would be cats. Because cats are awesome and then it would do super in the ratings. Except for Porthos who would be a human cuz everyone knows that cats have pet humans.

Q: Would you watch a Trek show if all the crewmembers were cats?

[sorry. I'm naturally demented and the headache doesn't help. :? Gah plot bunnies, go away :?  ]

I'm not sure I could get into Trip and T'Pol if they were a couple of cats. Not big on animal stories. I couldn't get into Watership Down or that English children's book with the badger and the toad in it. I couldn't even get into Lord of the Rings until I skipped past The Hobbit, because if you ask me hobbits are just too damned cute. If Strider hadn't come along when he did I probably wouldn't have made it through LOTR either.

I love my cats, just not in books. Can't speak to TV shows because I've yet to see a convincing talking cat in a TV show, with the possible exception of the Kzin or whatever it was in TAS. Alan Dean Foster also had one in his own series, or am I imagining that? What was she called, Flinx? She was pretty cool, at least to adolescent me.

That Voyager episode where there is that Q who wants to die. I've seen that episode only once a long time ago. My family background is quite religious so I've grown up believing in God and heaven and after life and so on. But for some reason that episode made me think about after life and eternity and things like that a bit differently. It didn't really change my believes just made me feel differently about certain things.

Q:If you could choose any episode and character who you would be and live trough that episode being that character what would it be?

Any episode from TNG with the Borg... I would want to be Data... I would use my over powered positronic brain to think up the simplest of solutions first discovered by the ENT crew... PULL OUT THERE PIPES!

Sure... they adapt to phaser frequencies... they are strong enough to match up with Worf and Data in hand-to-hand... but with Data's speed and strength he could have disabled an entire Borg cube in 20 minutes by running around ripping the pipes out of their heads!

Question:

If you could add a character to ENT, what would their name, race, gender, age, rank, job and plot purpose be?

The Quartermaster, a higher level non-comm, like Master Sergeant. Any gender or race, but older, and not so insanely good looking like the rest of the crew OR all-wise like Guinan was. Just some older guy or gal with a lot of experience and practical smarts, the type of person who could find/borrow/beg/steal/make ANYTHING you ask them for. Crew members would go to him/her to get stuff, like gifts or uniform repairs or books or whatever, and often times they'd end up getting advice, too. Maybe he/she would end up being Archer's informal advisor, and that would make his character grow up a little.

Q: Assuming Archer HAD been killed before Azati Prime, which crew member do you think would have made the best captain for the rest of the series?

Yeah, a quartermaster. Good call, Distracted. I see the quartermaster as a runaway Ferengi woman who was tired of being required to stay naked at home. As backlash to that, she wears the most elaborate and outlandishly colorful outfits she can find, balking at having to wear a Starfleet uniform. And she mothers the crew when they let her, but usually they all try to avoid it but seek her out for mending clothes. She has a pet parrot on her shoulder which says embarassingly accurate things to people. She spends her spare time with Chef. They are attracted to each other, but blush when anyone notices it, and deny that they have a romantic relationship.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

I like your Quartermaster idea too. Though I don't want some exotic alien -- I want a hardbitten old navy hack of either sex. Someone who is not white but is nonetheless allowed to have a personality.

Trip would have made the best captain, but I'm glad it didn't come to that. He wouldn't be as much fun as captain, and the TnT thing would become dicier, plus he'd probably have to have more alien chick of the week encounters... Let Archer have the command headaches, please!

But ... how do you think it would go down if Archer is killed in the Expanse, T'Pol assumes command, but eventually Starfleet or some other reality kicks in and says, no thanks we don't want a Vulcan captain who hasn't even a Starfleet officer, Trip's our guy? How would she have reacted? And how would he have reacted? And the crew? (And what would Phlox have done, knowing about the Trellium-D, if he thought T'Pol was going to be in command for any length of time?)

(Has anyone written this yet? It's kinda interesting...)

Trip would say:"Go to hell! She is great and perfect as Captain! I'm an only engineer!" (Trip's thought: Her personal engineer! Better than being the Archer's engineer, that's sure!)
T'Pol (raising her eyebrow) would say: "Thanks, Commander, but I don't need defenders." Then she would demonstrate with incontrovertible logic the... logical necessity that she has to be the Captain. (T'Pol's thought: I have to remember to thank the Commander, someway, tonight.)
And Phlox? Well! But obviously he would be Phlox, a poor doctor in worry, like doctors are always. He couldn't fight against T'Pol's logic, neither he would want to do it. He would get resigned himself to take great care of T'Pol, for her own health, for the health of the crew and above all for Trip's health. In the final analysis, for his own health. (Do you able to think how much troubles Trip could be capable of giving him, if T'Pol was getting ill? )

Q: What could have happened if Koss wasn't Koss? On other words, if Koss was behaving in a civil manner, without... desiring T'Pol happiness?
