I assume I'm not getting the full context of this, but that just plain sounds abusive.

Pretty much, he's taking a class for his job before being sent back to Afganistan. The final project for this class involves a powerpoint, and he wants me to spice together some maps for him, because there, apparently, aren't any on the internet that show the Afgan/Pakistani boarder in the way he wants. I don't mind doing this when he asks, but it's the way he asks. Like he'll send me an essay, ask me to edit it for him in the email, and call 5 min later to check that I'm working on it. Or he'll call, ask me, say, for a word that means stuborn and unwilling to change one's veiws, have me spell it for him, and hang up. Or have me write the works cited for his essays. Or - my fav - ask me to write them for him. I drew the line at that, but it ticks me off to no end. Like I said, he's about halfway across the country right now and I've talked to him more over the phone in brief 2-3 min conversations since he's been gone than I ever did when he was at home...

So I'm being equally stubborn and not working on the map like he wants me to. I've discovered that he brings out the most annoying tendancy in me to be intentionally contrary...

Too bad he's not taking a management class so he could find out why this isn't the way to get people to happily work for you.

I finally got some relief from the pain with prednisone. Unfortunately, I have a lot of calcification in my shoulder that caused the tendinitis. I guess the years and years of lifting and pushing and changing the gas price sign at work finally caught up to me. Time for a cortisone shot.

I feel as if I am dropping here to simply whine. My apologies. I am so busy! The mental health message board takes up an awful lot of my time and school, work, kids...I hope everyone here is doing well!

Alelou, maybe lunch before school starts? I'll email you soon and hopefully we can meet up! :)

Well, I just wasted nearly two hours of my life that I'll never get back. My daughter convinced me to take her and a friend to see the movie "Dinner for Schmucks". All I can say is that the title should have been a clue. The movie's only redeeming virtue for me was that the snack bar at the theater sells pretty darn good dacquiris. If you're considering actually paying to go to see it as opposed to waiting until it hits the movie channel I'd recommend doing something else with your money. Pretty much anything else would be better. Really.

Hi Brether, good to hear from you! RL can be very consuming. My mother used prednisone a while back for the pain in her bones, she stopped because it's a strong medicine, but it worked well. How is the mental health message board doing?

My whine: there is a beast living in my freezer. Really. When we came home from our vacation, I opened the frigde and this horrible smell entered my nostrils. I opened the freezer and everything was soft. The ice was gone. Turns out the persons who took care of the house during our absence accidently turned the frigde of, making the ice melt and all the food was spoiled. The water had dripped under a closet into the floor (we have a wooden floor with soft material that can't have water - never put this in your kitchen!). Anyway, we clean the frigde and the freezer, repaired the floor, but still when I open the freezer this horrible smell comes my way. We call it "the beast" ;-) and I joked it attacked me when I open the freezer. 8) We are not going to use the freezer any more and hopefully can buy a new frigde and freezer in a couple of months. We got some flowers from the person who turned the frigde off... They smell nice... :D

When I renovated my kitchen two years ago, I bought a new bottom freezer refrigerator/freezer that was supposed to be really great and eco friendly. I have a small house and kitchen, so it was a small model. About two weeks after the warranty expired, it stopped working. Just stopped. All my food went bad. It was just over a year old. The digital control board blew out, and replacing it cost half of what the fridge cost.

After spending money on two repair guys, the second told me to buy a basic made-in-the-usa GE without any electronics rather than fix my fancy one. It cost about a $100 more to get the small GE - but he said that with no electronics to blow out - the thing will work for 30 years. Plus, the thing actually uses less energy than my fancy "eco friendly" one that blew out.

So, I feel for you panyasan.

Yuck. I know that smell well - everybody I knew had it in their freezer after a major storm would knock out the power for a few days. It's no fun to have to clean it up and replace everything too. :(

That was nice of them to send the flowers for your (nearly dead) freezer, tho. :)

When we lost power at our camp and the food rotted in the freezer for a week before we could get to it we got the smell out by bringing the unit outdoors, washing it out with a 1:6 bleach solution and then leaving it with the door open in the sun for several days.
