Oh! Early sunday morning - :(

Actually today is saturday in the US :D , but it is still the weekend and that stinks. :(
I was thinking it was a bit strange to work and play beauty shop on a early sunday morning - I totally forgot the time difference.

So I'm supposed to go pick up the rental car I'm supposed to drive down to my orientation in about 1/2 hour and, despite printing out the confirmation i needed and saving it in my email, I still spent 1/2 hr looking for the stupid thing. So now I'm all stressed out because of that on top of everything else and more than a little worried something's going to go wrong... and I know I should be all happy 'cause it's all, ooh, yes, finally, a job, but I feel like I'm walking blind here. Maybe even driving-at-90-mph blind. and my mother is trying to help, but she's been going on about the god-obvious all day and interupting me every five min - again, all day - making sure I have this that or the other, half of which is so obvious a 5 yr old would remember it and the rest of which I'd never need in the first place... it's... insane.

Crystalswolf, I have been staring to that little hand at the end of your signature for some time and now it hit me: it's the Vulcan greeting gesture! How cool!

Thanks for asking, CW! I'm about 80% back - mostly tired. Thank goodness the shoulder pain and the throat pain are gone, which were from the anesthesia. I did learn why the surgeon, the recovery nurse and the nurse who called me to follow up all told me not to mess with the glue on my body. It has started to itch, but I will not mess with it!

And thank you everyone for your kind, get well wishes.

HB, glad to hear you're at least close to better. Don't you just hate the itch you can't scratch!

Panyasan, :D Was beyond happy when I found it.

I find Sarna a really helpful anti-itch ointment when cortison and benadryl aren't options.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'll give that a try - I plan on hitting the health food store this week for anti-scar stuff and whatnot. That will be another good thing to put on the list.

Thankfully, when you get glued and not stitched, the scarring is much less.

And that leads to my whine! False the glue is not less scaring for some of us mere mortals it's more! Not kidding I had glue for scars with a feeding tube and a gal bladder operation. Both scars are worse then my stitched ones! :explode:

I am so sensitive to some of the adhesives on some bandaids that I'd be very scared of glue. I also had a nasty reaction to so-called 'dissolving' sutures once. So I'll take good old nylon any day.

I can still the faint shadow of the one 'bad' bandaid I wore over a punch biopsy on my arm for one hour in early July. The P.A. at the dermatologist's said, "That's it, no more bandaids." He didn't even want me to wear tape. (That kind of seemed like an over-reaction to me, but whatever.)

Once I also had a bad reaction to the vitamin E oil a NJ dermatologist had recommended over another excision. However, it was just the one brand. Another worked fine.

Oh, my. I was only going by what my surgeon and my friend who is a plastic surgeon told me about the glue. I'm sure that everyone's body reacts differently, though, I'll give everyone a full report once they've started to heal.

Alelou, if you ever have a laproscopy, be sure to tell them you're sensitive to adhesives - they'll probably want to do some kind of spot test for you.

It really depends on wear the scar is too. I had a hysterectomy about 6 years ago, they sticthed me up no scar, yet 3 inches up my gal bladder scar is awful! Sorry I just had to say that the glue isn't a miracle, what if you were horribly disappointed? At least you have some warning.

This isn't like a surgical cut, but sometimes people in my profession cut themselves with scissors, and oftentimes it goes deep enough that we probably should've had stitches. Bandaids are hard to cut around, and they get all wet and nasty, which ma makes it hard for things to heal. I have sensitive skin, too, so bandaid adhesive bugs me. I often just have one of the nail techs use nail glue to keep the wound shut once the bleeding stops and I'm sure it's clean. No bulk of a bandaid, and the glue takes up a smaller area so less itching. By the time the glue comes off by itself, I'm pretty well healed. You may have less of a reaction to the glue than you think. Worth asking about if you're ever in that situation.

My uncle re-attached his finger with super glue, it worked like a charm!
