I can still the faint shadow of the one 'bad' bandaid I wore over a punch biopsy on my arm for one hour in early July. The P.A. at the dermatologist's said, "That's it, no more bandaids." He didn't even want me to wear tape. (That kind of seemed like an over-reaction to me, but whatever.)
Once I also had a bad reaction to the vitamin E oil a NJ dermatologist had recommended over another excision. However, it was just the one brand. Another worked fine.
This isn't like a surgical cut, but sometimes people in my profession cut themselves with scissors, and oftentimes it goes deep enough that we probably should've had stitches. Bandaids are hard to cut around, and they get all wet and nasty, which ma makes it hard for things to heal. I have sensitive skin, too, so bandaid adhesive bugs me. I often just have one of the nail techs use nail glue to keep the wound shut once the bleeding stops and I'm sure it's clean. No bulk of a bandaid, and the glue takes up a smaller area so less itching. By the time the glue comes off by itself, I'm pretty well healed. You may have less of a reaction to the glue than you think. Worth asking about if you're ever in that situation.
