I had one I wrote for the TnT site awhile back called 'Battle Flags of Vulcan'. I will try to dredge it up and perhaps improve it. Yeah, ya gotta have a little fighting between romances. Fighting is a stress reliever from the trials of romance. Its a humanoid thing, despite vociferous denial by some of the pointy-earred folks.

Nope. Fresh out of epic battles. Guess you guys'll just have to write one yourselves. Do Rigil's Elysium as a Homeric epic, BnB. I dare ya. Cool

If I could, I would. But poetry is one thing where I fall flat. I can write descriptive. I can write narrative. I can write dialog. Sort of. But my efforts at ballads have been... unfortunate.

Is anyone else around here in the Oklahoma/Texas area? I, for one, am thoroughly sick of all this damned rain. I've got a swamped yard that I can't mow, annoying trees that I want to cut down but can't...granted, I'm happy it's not 100° or hotter like it usually is here in OK, but man ...

I'm considering building an ark. Anyone got any deckplans?

Poor Rigil. Ark plans are easy though. Here ya go.

That would be ... interesting...

"Sing, O goddess, the anger of Tucker son of Charles, that brought countless ills upon the Humans. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hell, and many a hero did it yield a prey to Romulans and Klingons, for so were the counsels of T'Pol fulfilled from the day on which the son of Archer, leader of men, and great Tucker, first fell out with one another. The adventures of the Enterprise in the Expanse lend themselves to something like the Odyssey:

Tell us, O Teller of the Tales of Enterprise, of that ingenious hero Archer who travelled far and wide after he had crossed the thermobaric barrier. Many planets did he visit, and many were the species with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much in space while trying to save the Earth and bring his crewmen safely home. Of his friends, valiant Tucker and wise T'Pol, tell us.

Casting Archer in the role of Odysseus is a bit of a stretch though. Ingenious? Uh ... not so much...

Yeah, both Archer & Odysseus are arrogant sods, but that's about it...

And recall, none of the men who followed Odysseus to fabled Troy returned...

Not to slavishly copy Homer, merely to borrw his scope, his meter, his nobility. Not to have one hero, but a cadre of them. A series of tales to sustain and entertain a group of travelers on a long and dangerous journey.

I remember when they had that "Who can write the worst sentence?" contest over at HoT. That was frighteningly easy for me. Surprised I honestly don't think I could wax poetic about battles and such. I might make myself pass out or something. Confused You should give it a try, BnB. Smile

It poured here in New York yesterday too. Something like 2 inches in a half hour. I remember when we lived in Florida and one week we got 19 inches of rain. The whole town was literally flooded and it wasn't even from a hurricane. We were lucky and didn't have to evacuate, though. It did make for long grass and lots of fire ants, as I recall.

I've got my Firfox asking me to upgrade to version 2 now. I am sometimes not comfortable with making upgrades right away since they can be buggy. Has anyone here been using Firefox 2 and can recommend doing the upgrade?

Love your avatar, KTR. Lord, she's gorgeous.

Sorry I can't help you with the Firefox question. I'm a straightforward IE gal, myself.

I'm sorry. IE is the devil...

KTR, I'm using 2.0.0.4 and, apart from it being on a crappy computer, I've noticed no problems.

IE might be the devil but I'm used to it Very Happy

Okay here's an update about the names for all those annoying people where I live. My friend and I always talk with code names we make up for all of them so they won't know we vent about them and how annoying they are Twisted Evil so here goes.

Alarm Clock Lady is now also known as "Cheaper by the Dozen". Because she has 12 kids Confused and she's like 38 and her oldest is like 27 Shock

Of course there's Boom and 100y/o Bag Lady who got kicked out. Well actually Boom left (probably because the loud and obnoxious Obnoxious moved to her room, now she knows what it feels like) and they wouldn't let her come back Twisted Evil

Obnoxious's name has been shortened to "Obi" and sometimes "Obi Kenobi" (because I keep forgetting her real name and I don't wanna risk calling her "Obnoxious" to her face by accident Confused not that she knows what obnoxious means cuz she barely even speaks English)

The manager's name is KGB because once I had those 2 bitches staying in my room (whom I refered to as "Bitch #1" and "Bitch #2") and they like totally pissed me off so I kinda wrote a series called "Bitchville" about 2 bitches named Bitch #1 and Bitch #2 who live in a place that's run by a KGB spy named KGBitch who disguises herself as French. Dude that was a hoot especially episodes 2 (where KGBitch throws wet dishes to their place on the shelf from like 10 feet away... you'd have to live here to know why it's actually funny Razz ) and episode 3 ("The Bitches Join the KGB") Twisted Evil

Oh and there's this old weirdo dude who was like masturbating in the smoking room so we call him J.O. (for jerk off). My friend actually called him that to his face last night Laughing

What a unique environment you live in, T'Poptarts. I'd advise you to write a dramatic autobiographical story about it just to blow off steam, but no one would believe it. Confused

Cool. Guess it'll have to be science fiction. Cool

Yes, T'Pop! Maybe start by just keeping the comments you have made here as kind of a journal. Then you can go back and recharge your memories and write about them even if you have moved on to a different place in your life.
