Oh you mean the rubber disk thing to open jars! I miss those. I'm off to wrestle with the Boccocini lid. Only its got that plast ring around it!
Knife time.

Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

Re: The Whine thread.
What you need to do is tap the jar against the side of the counter until the seal breaks, then it should be easy to open. And by tap, I mean, slam as hard as you can without the jar breaking.
My own whine: the one and only radio station with any music worth listening to locally isn't so bad. It's the fact that every 15 min (at least) they play commericals, and every single commercial break for the last year, at least, they've played the exact same comerical for a male enhancement product. I don't care if they advertise that stuff, I really don't, but I'd like to have one day where I don't have to hear that commerical. I'd even settle for a new one for the exact same product, as long as I get some variety.

Well Victory is mine! But it was one of those deli department containers that you can't bang. I hate any and all advertising that isn't in print.

Try opening packaging around toys!! It's like you need a phase pistol and photonic torpedos to open one of those suckers... and once you do, you still have to detatch the toy from the decorative background... Blow torch!

A total of 6 nieces and nephews, I know the pain. But food is a more immediate need.

Re: The Whine thread.
Yeah, I think I read somewhere about those being a fairly common cause of emergency room admissions...
I tapped the hell out of a jar just the other night, aardarshinah, and finally decided that rather than breaking it all over the newly-clean floor with one last giant whack on the counter that I would ask my son to try. I knew something fundamental had changed when he actually got it open. My boy is a man (sniff!)!

OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Oh what is that quote about how keeping a man isn't strictly necessary, except that sometimes one must have help moving the piano. Well add opening jars to it.

Re: The Whine thread.
Okay, openers. For jars there is an opener that fits around the top. It closes and you clamp the handles together to give you leveratge and twist. The Jar opens easily.
There is aproduct which you put on the top of a can push the button on top and it automaticaally goes around the can (without having to be held) and opens the can. Electric, runs off batteries. Great for peopole who are older and can no loonger use one of those damned things that need a luumberjack to use.
Packaging, of toys etc. Tins snips is good, Bolt cutters cas work. but I slice my hands on the sharp plastic edges. Damned things are dangerous. Make a great Murder weapon. cops would never think to look at that. Once you get the (thick) Plastic off there is the twists holding the toy in place. OF COURSE the toy itself is encased in more plastic once it is removed from the outer Plastic shell.
My hands are not so good any more. Neither is my wifes. We like the cans with the pull tabs. but that handy dandy opener that one can put on the can and watch it go around by itself opening the can is nice.
Still, I remember before this type of packaging getting home, opening something only to find that what was supposed to be in the package had already been removed and the package closd again.
BTW, the name of the auttomatic can opener is
"One Touch, no hands can opener.

Never fear I'm no cougar. I don't see how any sane woman could put up with a guy too much younger. Men are usually immature enough when they're older. I remember doing the same things for my brothers. Now 3 are married with kids, and the other two are hopelessly bacholars. Ah me, I wish I could stop time.
SB I hate electric can openers. They are evil!
