:D
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Yep, this is an old fave. I sent it to my dad, who is from Dundee himself, but he couldn't really follow it either.

My cousins in Edinburgh used to delight in launching into the broadest possible Scots dialect just to flummox me. (Or fasht me!)

You definitely have Hoshi tendencies, Lady Rainbow!

my favorite scotch phrase is "I dinnae!" or maybe, "What're you like?" or maybe "tut-tut!" I don't get either of those last two. Totally befuddle me.

I always liked "Dinnae fasht yoursel" and "Gie us a break, Jimmy!" -- though the latter is distinctively Glaswegian, not anything anyone from my East Coast family would say.

There's a fine Scots drinking song that goes:

Jus' a wee doch n' doris, jus' a wee ain, at's all.
Jus' a wee doch n' doris, before we gang awa,
An' a wee wifie waitin', an' a wee butt'n'bend,
An' i' ye can say it's a braw, bricht, moonlicht nicht, you're allricht, ye ken!

(In other words, if you can say that you're not too drunk.)

I have to say it slowly to get it right, and I'm sober and it's 8.12 in the morning here! ("butt'n'bend"? :vulcan: Do I wanna know what that is??? )

Here's another one, if you can say it right, you're kinda sober:

"Round the ragged rocks, the rag-ged rascal ran."

Try THAT one 3 times fast. LOL

A butt'n'bend is a small wee cottage. I don't even want to know what you were thinking...

I like how their last names are all "MacSomething."

Actually many Scottish names are more anglicized than that, and many are actually of Scandinavian descent (many of my cousins are Johnstons). Mac just means "son of". My father is a Hutchison, which came from MacUtcheon, which somehow is related to MacDonald, which is our clan. I like my dad's middle name, after his mother's family name: Cairncross. Literally, a place where paths cross, marked by a big pile of rocks.

Yeah, my husband's grandmother's maiden name is McGee, which is short for MacGregor. And there are many Campbells in his family tree too. :D

I think we're supposed to be blood enemies. :)

When it came to clan warfare, the Scots were Klingons. And I could just see a Klingon liking bagpipes...

A Klingon in a kilt? (Well, Worf wore that sash across his chest, so...)

I don't know if this one's been posted yet, but this one is Star Trek's 40th anniversary video. It's set to "The inner Light Suite". I think it's well done...
