 If I ever use those words I'll never be allowed to speak to my mother ever again. However yes I concur. The one thing I regret about the demise of my relationship is that I never once just let myself be mad at the ex. I made sure I was always calm and very "sweet" when we were having a disagreement. I should have just done what I normally do "Will you please stop being such a jackass!" But I didn't. Now looking back on it, it could have saved me a lot of trouble. But no I was even sweet while he was dumping me on the phone! How dumb was I?

My other favorite peice of advice, "you have to be willing to fulfill their needs so they can fullfill your needs" Umm. YEAH! It can't just be you, you, you, or I, I, I! You know sometimes I just want to punch my crazy relatives when they start crabbing. I'm like "Well why bother being with anyone at all!" People are crazy.

This made me think of "Shuttle Pod One." It's a photo essay of the ingredients of the meal rations provided to the various country's soldiers in Afghanistan:

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010 ... ekinreview

The related story is fun to read.

I'm such an American I'd probably prefer theirs, though I'd sure enjoy trading for Italy's and S. Korea's once in awhile. Britain's is more fun than I expected, too.

My dad always used to take his MREs, open them up at home, doctor them up with little bits of this and that, and duct tape them back together. when he was done, he'd have a huge pile of salt and coffee and tea packets in front of him... I forget if he did that just because of the taste, or if he'd some reasoning behind it. He's really peculiar about his army stuff...

Had the family cookout today. My pickiest aunt ate and actually *liked* my pasta salad! I took it as high praise.

So now I sit in front of my living room window, surrounded by green grass and green trees, and a sky that's totally clear and that deep, rich autumnal blue. Think I'll try to write something.

Had Aureilia's 5th bday (late) today as she turned 5 two days b4 we left 4 hawaii.

Made sushi and a bday cake. She's obsessed with the WotWots, which is a 2009 N.Z. show that's big in Australia, UK, and Canada about a brother and sister alien who go to zoos and look at Earth animals. (aliens: like mother, like daughter).

So I made her a "Dotty Wot" cake today. Not too, too bad:

Here's Abby 'n' me in Hawaii

Notice Abby's right ankle has our phone number on it. It's a good idea! Everyone laughed at me. But it is a good idea. 1 year old can't speak (except for things like mama and dip-dip) if she gets lost, she could be frikking German or Swedish for all anyone knows. Cell phone number on ankle? Problem solved in 5 minutes.

Sacred Pools after the Road to Hana are INCREDIBLE. I 100% recommend that anyone who goes to Maui take the Road to Hana and continue to the Sacred Pools.

OMG You went to the Seven Sacred Pools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I've wanted to go ever since the movie I.Q. Does the water really feel like 1,000,000 kisses on your skin? The phone number idea was awesome, my mother did the same thing. Ummm How do you expect your hubby to be bored with you when you're really, really, very beautiful. I wish I looked that good.

Here's something fun, but it is not fair that this lady is so thin. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39021464/ns ... ?gt1=43001

awwww thanks WGirl. :D You're sweet.

I dunno about a million kisses, but the pools are as warm as the ocean (ie just the teensiest perfectest bit cool, not cold at all), and the WATERFALLS FROM POOL TO POOL ARE *WARMER* THAN THE POOL YOU'RE IN. SO YOU'RE SITTING IN WARM WATERFALL, AND IT'S LIKE POUNDING ON YOUR BACK LIKE A MILLION WARM 50 POUND STRESS BALLS.

Also, there are not "Seven" "Sacred" pools...there are about 24 pools, and no one ever called them sacred till the bus tours of the 60's and 70's started their marketing campaigns. However, (listen carefully here) if you BOTHER TO SPEND 2.5 HOURS DRIVING TO HANA, THEN DO NOT STOP IN HANA, AND THEN GO HOME. THAT WOULD BE INSANE. CONTINUE FOR ANOTHER 15-20 MINUTES AND GO TO THE (non)SACRED POOLS. THEY ARE HELLA BETTER THAN HANA WHICH IS NICE, BUT KINDA "meh".

Priso's little bro was all, "Nah, we didn't make it all the way to the pools, but Hana was cool." And we were all, "Oh, yeah?" (suckerrrrrrrz)

For anyone who is massively bored, here are the rest of our Maui pix:

I just heard about em through a movie. But they sound really good, especially for someone in chronic pain... WG wants her parents to take her to Maui!

Do it!

 here's a funny-husband-says:

So Priso is sitting here and we're looking at this McDonald's toy that is a little red man leaning backward, matrix-style, who you can press a button and he lights up, and he has plastic fire coming off his shoulders. And I'm all, "Who the hell is this supposed to be? Some kind of X man?"

And Priso's like, "Of course it's an Xman."

And I'm like, "Which one?"

And he goes, "Um, you know.....Flamey."

This is a very cool short documentary about the making of an Ikea Commercial - that involved releasing 100 real housecats into an Ikea store when it was closed.

LOL. That was just nuts. (We had to cut sheet rock to get a cat out of a narrow space when we moved into this house, too.) And my, they really color-coordinated those kitties into a nice wintery palate.
