Soemtimes, I think I#m watching the wrong movie  Just found this article

Woman to be set free, if she marries rapist

It's in German. The story boils down to this. A woman in afganistan was raped by a relative a couple of years back and - get this - she was sentenced to 12 years in jail for commiting 'adultery' :o Now she's been offered to be released from jail, if she marries the rapist, so that the child that resulted from the rape wont be a bastard.

ARE YOU PEOPLE FUCKING NUTS ???!!!

You sentence a rape victim to jail and then force her to marry the motherfucker??!!?? Why don't we just bomb this sick lot of waste of blood and organs off the fucking planet!!! Sorry afghanistan, but if that's your idea of a new society, better be prepared to be extinguished! Damn, that's sick!! :wtf:

So, in that way, for us, it was kind of a fitting finale.

She's completely right. For Sirtis and Frakes, maybe it was -- for Enterprise or even TNG, NOT.

Makes me wonder if I might have been happier with a combination of the two series that was better-executed, more balanced, and included MY favorite TNG characters. I consider Riker and Troi two of the least interesting ST characters of all time.

Kotik, the law in Afghanistan is weird in many, many ways. They'll also send to jail two consenting adults -- or nonconsenting -- they really don't care -- who are caught having premarital sex, only releasing them if they agree to marry (which usually requires dowries and so doesn't automatically occur and by the way whether these two people actually love each other is completely irrelevant). While watching a documentary on this, it struck me that for some of those women, that life in jail was clearly preferable to what they faced outside jail. There are parts of the world I am just so very thankful I wasn't born in.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

I'd have to agree. The worst ever Star Trek episode was a fitting finale for the worst ever Star Trek series.
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

At least in jail you won't have acid thrown on your face or have your nose cut off by the Taliban.

Afghanistan is one of the poorest and most illiterate places on the planet, and that's just the way the Taliban like it. An ignorant populace is easier to control and mislead. In areas controlled by the government, anyone sending their daughters to school might get a 'night letter' taped to their door, warning them of reprisals if they continue.

And of course, the US has brilliantly told them when we are leaving, so they are prepared to wait us out. And those that have helped the Coalition or worked for the elected government are probably scared spitless, because they will be the first targets of the Taliban after the Coalition pulls out.

Radical Islam has killed many more Muslims than the West, hands down.

 How it's true.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Heh!

When I finish my re-watch of TNG (on hiatus at the moment) and start on VOY, we'll see which one of those two shows I'll consider "the worst".

In my book TNG wins, no contest. It has more annoying characters per capita (including the odious Wesley Crusher). And then there's the unbearably smug Picard. On the positive side, we had Worf and Data.

With VOY, we had to endure the stupefyingly useless Neelix, but for the most part the characters were more entertaining than annoying. Plus we got Seven of Nine (sigh), which counts for a lot.

I have nothing against 7of9, who had a lot more going for her than those two prominent "assets", but I always liked B'Elanna :torres: better.
