I'm sorry your ex-boyfriend said something so dumb, but a certain amount of foot-in-mouth is associated with being a young male. Tokyo is a mind-blowing destination and I highly recommend it unless you can't take crowds.

:tears: It's fine really, I got him back I said "I wouldn't drag you to LA so I could drool over Blond Haired- Blue-eyed surfers! And who wants to spend their wedding night on a plane?" I really cannot take crowds though, I think it's bcause crowds aren't fun in a wheelchair. And frankly, it's too long of a flight. I'm incredibly claustrophobic.

Nice drool!

The awful old Florida attraction Weeki Wachee used to have a boat trip down the river in which you could feed the wildlife -- so you were always mobbed by pelicans and racoons and just about every creature in the area. It was definitely the highlight of that attraction (cheesy mermaid shows not being my thing), although I couldn't help thinking it was breaking every rule in the book in terms of wildlife management. Catskill Game Farm up here (also now out of business) also used to let you feed the goats and sheep and stuff in a giant enclosure, which meant kids would get glommed and sometimes just start sobbing in terror.

Homassassa Springs in Florida is much more restrained, now that the state runs it as a state park. You just watch the ranger getting glommed by manatees or whatever. I suppose meat on a carefully closed bus is pretty controlled, too. (Do they have to chase the bus down, or does it just wait for them?)

Jurassic Park missed a ride idea... The Velociraptor Bus!

My Brother-in-law's avatar is a picture showing the head and shoulders of a lion, taken at Addo last summer. He had to lean back inside the car to get far enough away to get it in the picture.

One of my favorite childhood memories is of Whipsnade Park. I have a photo showing me gazing up at the giraffe about ten feet in front of me, and completely ignoring the two baby elephants directly behind me who are trying to scrounge some sugar lumps. Just behind the giraffe there are several zebras grazing. No fences, of course, but there was a zoo keeper keeping an eye on the animals. In hindsight I can't imagine what he'd have done if any of the animals had got upset, but at the time it seemed perfectly natural to have small children walking among the animals. The health and safety people would have a heart attack if it happened these days.

Might have related this here before:

In a roadside Zoo in Oregon I saw proof that Animals (Or at least Tigers) have a sense of humor.

I was alone watching the Tiger (my favorie anmal) There was a Dog in the enclosure with the Tiger. apparently they had grown up together. So as long as the Tiger was fed the Dog was safe. Anyway, the Dog was at afaucet that was set on slow drip. It wsas taking a drink. I saw the Tiger sneaking up behind the Dog. Lnch coming up I thought, but the Tiger swated the dog on the butt driving its head in to the faucet. The Tiger leaped back, laid down with its paws crossed and looked innocent as a Tiger could look. (f it could have whistled it would have) the Dog was stunned for a moment or two then ran up tothe Tiger and gave it what for. The Tiger gave the dog a big lick with its tongue and the Dog lay down beside it.

The Tiger had played what was a human trick I have seen done. For amoment it relieved the boredrom of its enclosure. But the Tiger showed a sense of humor then.

Maybe it's something mammals have in common? Our kitten likes to wait until Old Cranky Cat has slowly lowered his face to the water bowl (this can take minutes, since he hates getting his face wet). Then she'll swat him.

Allou Could be. However, I have a friend who is a devout Catholic and he says I never saw that. for him it wold mean that animals could think and plan which means they have a brain that thinks. Heresy for him.

I had to smile with the meat part of the pic's of Putaro. This week I was invited to a diner by a old co-worker of mine and after the main course (steak!) I felt ill. It ended me being sick the whole evening and night and the following two days. I felt better on Saterday, but not 100%.
I had some health problems in October, so it looks it was a bit of a fall back. No meat for me!

No meat
I doubt I could stomach such a restriction. If there's nothing on the plate that once was part of a farm-animal or some other form of wildlife, it isn't a proper meal.

Are you sure that it wasn't just down to the fact that the meat might have been stored improperly or that you've got some kind of allergic reaction to some spice or other ingredient? I'd go insane if I was restricted to eating weeds :?

I went through a pescatarian phase (only fish and eggs in the form of animal protine) I have to say I felt fantastic. I think that people in the Western World OD on red meats. I like meat as much as the next omnivore, but eating less of it can make you feel healthier.

Your remark is kind of sweet, Kotik! I do think it had something to do with the steak being medium - and not done, but it shouldn't have caused problems.
I just noticed that my body seems to respond to certain products or I know certain products aren't good for your stomach (coffee for example), so I try to be careful about using them. (Or not eating, I hardly ate any thing for two days!)

Sometimes when you've been sick a long time, especially being on certain medications, it takes time for things to re-adjust to normal when you recover. You might just need more time to get back into your "normal" eating habits Panyasan

I was on a feeding tube for months, it took a long time to get back to normal, eating meat and all.

Maybe it's just as well you need to avoid the meat, Panyasan. See above. Then again, maybe it's not that big a deal. (Also see above.) It also could simply have been a nasty coincidence in terms of a stomach virus. (Did it happen to anyone else?)

We went out for our idea of a fun Easter dinner -- a Thai/Korean/Japanese restaurant in Albany. Yum, yum, yum. And then we walked in the park. Such a pretty day. The flowering quinces and cherries were in bloom, and some of the tulips. (Albany has a big Tulip Festival coming up and this year everyone is nervous this year that by the time it comes along the tulips will have already passed.)

Thai/Korean/Japanese sounds like quite an eclectic mix  I'm usually not the type for Asian food as I don't really like spicey food. My preferred nutrition is a big slab of dead animal with some potatoes and gravy and minimal amount of spices.
Last week however I was on a business dinner with some customers, who recommended a Vietnamese. Ok, half the stuff on the menu was ...er... unappealing. They basically served everything that has four legs and isn't a table. But upon voicing my concern about spiciness, one of the guys suggested Duck on a ricebed with some peculiar dark sauce and it was absolutely delicious

It is a bit eclectic, but there's such a paucity of Korean restaurant food in our area that I'm fine with that, especially since they cook all of it pretty well. (Where we used to live in NJ there was a large Korean community and lots of wonderful restaurants.) Anyway, it's no more eclectic than the typical Greek American diner that offers Italian and Russian and Jewish and 'American' food on its menu along with some Greek stuff.

We hardly ever eat out and I love a lot of Asian food, so I've learned to cook a lot of this stuff at home. With the right supplies, it's not hard. I stock up every few months at an Asian grocery store. Vietnamese cuisine, though, is one I've only ever experienced at a (Vietnamese) wedding. It was very good, but we haven't gone hunting for it, partly because we had no idea what those dishes were. One was a seafood salad that appeared to have long tubes of octopus carved into ornate designs in it. At least, that's what I'm guessing it was. It was good, if a little chewy.
