Erasure!!
Eh? You'll have to explain it to the old lady.
Erasure's hits included "Chains of Love" and "Respect." They also did a cover of ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" that was a huge hit in the gay clubs in the early 90s.
This is the album I have and I love it:

you can listen to it there.

We do it because the tits are big and the bat'leths are sharp and the ships are fast!"

Re: Screen names
Wow. That's really just a heartbeat of additional coolness away from Abba.
Here's Vienna by Ultravox. It's dated in every possible way now, but at the time I thought it was SO COOL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJeWySiuq1I
One thing I definitely noticed at the many dances in England -- Police and Madness and stuff like this song is very hard to dance to! Seemed to me the dancing basically consisted of jumping up and down until exhausted. In fact, I think I may have discovered that exactly 29 years ago tonight, at the Thanksgiving party UEA threw for the American exchange students.

I have to admit, that even though I was really nervous about meeting Connor, he was so nice and friendly that went away as soon as we went up to him. I mean, it was only about 30 seconds, but I got a nice Vibe from him. I really respect celebrities who are so nice to their fans.
When you say soon to be cancelled, do you mean that con was going to be cancelled eveen though you were all there, or the next one?
She means it was cancelled the next day (Saturday) with an announcement right in the middle of the scheduled activities which basically amounted to "Sorry guys. We can't pay the hotel for the meeting space so they've kicked us out. Don't hold your breath about refunds, but we'll see if we can work something out."
At that point John Billingsley took the mic and grilled the guy about getting us our money back. He was great. Still haven't seen any money, though.

My favorite Ultravox songs are "Lament" and "The Thin Wall."

I was born in '86. I'm part of a strange generation that enjoys 90s music. My older friends say that 80s music is much better, but hey... I grew up on Nirvana and Oasis. I do enjoy Genesis and The Police though, and even some occasional Tears for Fears.
