We're supposed to get 3-6 INCHES!!

We had thundersnow, which really dumps a lot of snow in a VERY short stretch of time!
Just talked to my parents, who live in Virginia Beach, Va. They're supposed to get 1-3 inches at the beach!
Of course, over here, no one knows how to drive in snow and ice. Add NASCAR to that. And our biggest problem is ice. I live on the top of a hill. No way I'm gonna be driving anywhere tomorrow...
BRRRR!

Enjoy the excitement!
We're due for about the same, but up here at this point in the year it's just sort of annoying.

Lady Rainbow, I'm about 100 miles away in Burlinton and I'm also watching it snow outside my window right now. This is pretty unusual for us. They may close Elon University tomorrow, and they almost never do that.

You're in Burlington? Hey, that really isn't far at all from here! (Maybe a visit sometime?)

And wow, I don't think I've ever heard them closing Elon before.
They have a back-up on 85 from Gaffney, SC (near the big peach) through Cleveland County and into Gastonia. Some people have been stuck since 10 PM LAST NIGHT!!

Kids are off school and hubby is doing work at home on his laptop.

Lady Rainbow, just drive very, very slowly and don't slam on the breaks - stop gradually.
Uh, why did I put a Vulcan here? Because I thought what I said was logical I guess. But I just realized that Vulcans probably don't know how to drive in snow either.

That's okay. A lot of people around here don't know how to drive in snow/ice, either. Can you say, "NASCAR"?

Good idea.
If you have anti-lock brakes, the trick is keeping steady pressure and letting them do their horrid grinding thing. It's freaky when you're not used to it and many people instinctively lift their feet. Unfortunately, pumping the brakes as many of us were taught to do in snow defeats the whole anti-lock feature.
