It would make sense. A giant space-faring civilization's trash-planet. Huge, thick atmosphere due to trillions of tons of hydrocarbons choking the atmosphere...
Sometimes I wonder how many, if any, really bizarre astronomical anomalies we discover and try to explain with natural phenomena could actually be an artificial construct like that. Now, that's just kind of a silly idea for this one, but ya never know. What if gamma ray bursts we see from quasars are like... intergalactic warp trails?

A valid point. We are operating strictly from ignorance. We don't know what might be out there, any more than the cave men knew.

Fascinating! Now all we have to do is wait until 2063 for the Vulcans to explain it to us, ha, ha. I just want to live long enough to see a Human set foot on Mars, which sure better come way before 2063 if I'm gonna see it.

That'll be my first words on Mars for ya Linda .
