Kotik, I Beg your Pardon. Not sure what you mean.

Is the song supposed to be funny, Kotik? Because I just find it offensive in combination with the images, especially since I'm from the home state of David Duke. In Louisiana we've been trying to live down the atrocities of the KKK for decades. The KKK is real, and definitely not funny.

I think perhaps we should stay away from promulgating cultural stereotypes in our relations on this board, since we're from so many different cultures. We should focus on what unites us rather than what divides us, don't you think?

I'm not sure why you posted that, Kotik. :dunno: Not cool.
We're here because we share a rather unique common interest. I don't see a place for stuff like that here. Not sure if you know but a self identified (alleged) terrorist tried to take an American plane down this morning, Christmas Day no less, on its way to Detroit. 300 passengers on that flight. I'm feeling a little defensive about the land that I love here........... :-X

Yes. What they said. And consider that an official warning.

Warning taken and I appologize to anyone who found it offensive. The song is a satire, but the harsh austrian humor might offend people, so I accept the warning.

I think it was just a misunderstanding and clashing of cultural differences and that no offense was intended.

It's a bit more than that :( As a German (for obvious historical reasons) I've been on the receiving end of harsh satire and outright hostility for most of the time. There's pretty much nothing that someone can throw at me which gets me offended, anymore - and I've been called a nazi on more than one occasion, just for where I've been born. I'm not gonna lie about it, I've not exactly been thrilled by the decisions that america has taken over the last years, but that did not give me the right to offend american people.

The one thing you need to understand - the EAV (the austrian band) - plays songs which can become so controversial, they are sometimes banned in their own home country. They are hideously blunt in their delivery of message and posting that clip in a forum that is visited by a lot of american people, was a gross error in judgement. I do apologize.

Koti, if i is any solace to you, my Daughter who was born in Germany, but has been an American citizen all of her life, had to claim she was born in West virginia because she was called a NAZI when in elementary school. She is half German as her mother was born in Germany to german parents. Rest is Ameican Mutt, Heinz 57 varities (albeit mostly Irish)

Silverbullet, I'm not bitter. What I was trying to say is. I do not get offended if people ridicule Germany, because I'm just used to it - I just misjudged that people will take offense if I 'return the favor'. It was ill-judged on my part.

INB4 war.

Thread locked.

EDIT:

To clarify, this thread was locked to prevent what I felt was an imminent argument over this issue. Kotik has apologised for the misunderstanding and I therefore consider the matter closed. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that it's pointless arguing over this non-issue, as no offence was intended.

As you were.

Dark,
