More accidents a Japanese snowboarder Yuka Fujimori was injured when a jump went to long and she hit her to the ground when she fell. http://www.japantoday.com/category/sports/view/snowboard-cross-rider-fujimori-hospitalized-after-hitting-head.

Terrible thing about the Georgian luger. The tributes to him during the opening ceremonies were very moving.

And now another accident.

Winter sports are often very dangerous, and I think luge is one of the more dangerous sports. It seems they don't think it was the track, but human error that caused the luge death. We'll see.

Honeybee, when a person is hurtling down that track at times 100 MPH, flat on the back, holding head up to see. Steering with feet and I guess a rope or something. There is damned little control. The curves are the most dangerous as a rider can hit one too high and go over. I can't imagine the courage it takes to do that. It is a wonder there aren't more deaths and injuries. this track was particuarly fast.

I just read a report that blames the track, which the author says was built too fast and too dangerous. There were many other accidents (more than a dozen) on the track leading up to the death, including one that left someone unconscious for "brief time." As the parent of three athletes, I worry about this stuff. Sometimes I felt like I was asking my little gladiators to go out on the field to play soccer or football or whatever. If the game becomes too dangerous, you have to dial it back somehow. A game is just a game.

JT, game yes, but the Winter Olypics are a teest of Skill and daring. Jumping on skies for a hundrded or so feet high in the air is Dangerous. Hit wrong and you are bent like a Pretzel. Down hill sking is Dnagerous too. Skiers can reach very high speeds especially if they do thier best to increase their speed at all costs. Speed skating, every thing is fast, dangerous and the participants are lving on the edge. Must be exhiliterating though.

It's a bad track. Canada's gonna be in big trouble over this. :(

Poor guy.

Canada sets record, 18-0, as women's hockey faces criticism http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Canada-sets-record-18-0-as-women-s-hockey-face?urn=oly,219527. I think the critics should just go f**k themselves. It's not the Canadians fault that they are that good.

Kristina Šmigun-Vähi just started 7.5 km + 7.5 km double pursuit. She won a gold medal in the last Olympics for the same race.
