Happy Easter!

So... we have all nationalities and persuasions on the board. What, if anything, are you doing to celebrate Spring and New Life today?
My family and I got up this am and went to church... twice! (I'm Catholic. He's Baptist. Long story.) Then we had a nice lunch. Then the kids gorged on chocolate. We did the whole Easter egg hunt and bunny pinata and family picnic thing yesterday with grandparents and cousins (Actually it was a crawfish boil, but we're in south Louisiana, so same difference.)
I thought I'd instilled a fairly traditional respect for the holiday in my kids, but I wished my 17 year old "Happy Easter" this am, and you know what she said???!! Get this....
"Happy Zombie Jesus Day"

I have no response to that.

For my family, it was just a traditional ham dinner and a quiet day together.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone celebrate Dyngus Day? It's the day after Easter.

I'm sorry, I consider myself Christian, but that was funny!
And as we say in Sweden,
Glad Påsk!

Oh my! I could relate similar stories but I'll pass. YIKES. I'm an atheist still looking over my shoulder for the lightning bolt to strike me.

Oh, and the question. How did I spend Easter? The way I spend everyday. Editing and posting fanfiction, lol . . . Ha, ha. No it only took a few minutes. I didn't do anything special.

Oh yeah, the question! I spent today on a train back home after having spent the rest of the Easter weekend (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Eve) with my parents. And we did nothing special except eating a few eggs and having Turkey yesterday (a sort of tradition in our family).

It is, isn't it? In a disturbing sort of way.
I guess I'm to blame for exposing her to so much fantasy and SF while her infant brain was developing.

I'd never heard of
Dyngus Day before now, but we do have Monday off.

It's sort of funny, Dis. Don't have kids that age (wonder what they would say at that age

). My kids are 6 and 3 years old and I wanted to create a family tradition, so we bought new clothes for the kids, I decorated the breakfast table with paper flowers and other paper decorations, we made the breakfast together as a family, then we went to church. During the service the vicar had a talk with the childern. After he stopped my daughter talked to him and he said aloud "Look, people, E. (my daughter) just told me she got new clothes, a nice purple Eastern dress." She was so happy with her new clothes. Tomorow is going to be second Eastern day, but the wheather is no good. Problably going to a museum. We have a second Christmas, Eastern and Pentecostal Day. Goede Paasdagen toegewenst!

I used to buy new (matching) clothes for everyone and take an Easter picture, but now my kids wouldn't be caught dead in anything I pick out, so that's out. Enjoy it while you can. They're so cute when they're young enough for you to dress them.

Ahum. My kids choose their own clothing. Even the little one. I gave up discussing with my daughter - just stimulate a little bit what she is wearing - but she has great taste. She choice a purle dress, with pink shirt with a purle top (I am not a fan of pink, but it's looks good on her and she is in her pink/purle phase). My son of three pointed to a red/black sweater "that one". We just agree.

My son and husband are off in Puerto Rico for the week, so I'm ignoring Easter and splitting my time between gardening and writing way too much fanfic. I also have Monday and Tuesday off so this really feels like a holiday.
It's so delicious just doing whatever the hell I want. I just wish I didn't have to stop and figure out what to eat. I made a carrot cake for them to enjoy with my stepdaughter's family on their way to the airport and another smaller one for me, and I must confess I've been eating that instead of proper meals. But now it's finished and spoonfulls of peanutbutter aren't quite cutting it. Damn it.
Jesus and Zombies. That's a good one. How would the Zombie Gospel run, I wonder?
In the beginning was the word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God...
...All that came to be had life in him
and that life was the light of men,
a light that shines in the dark,
a light that zombies could not eat.

Home alone with the place to your self: that really can be a treat! (for me: with lots of chocolate - had any today?) Hope you write a lot and have a relaxing time.

OMG! That is just hilarious,
Alelou!
Pretty quiet Easter for me. Hubs was sick yesterday, daughter was sick today. We took the kids to the park for a picnic yesterday, so at least we did get to do some family things this weekend.
Been catching up with reading fanfic and writing the latest chapter of "The Bird in the Cage" on ff. net and still plugging away of "Darker than a Shadow", the "Louder than an Echo" sequel.

I forgot to have the real stuff, but I had a spoonfull of Nutella! LOL.
Unfortunately, chocolate keeps me up, so I have to cut myself off before this point in the evening.

Happy Easter.
Have been a Baha'i for 35 years... so hubbie and I are just kicking back and relaxing. No celebrations. I have no family but hubbie.
Bad case of burnout on my part. Work has been overwhelming...so nothing has gotten written in 2 weeks. It takes every creative juice I have out of me.
But it left me alive and able to take nourishment.
So there's hope for the old girl yet.
I'm just enjoying a day where i can simply lay back, veg and not run my ass off admitting and discharging patients.
