I extend my belated condolences to our Scandinavian friends who suffered an unthinkable horror at the hands of a crazed mass murderer. I am sure this experience is very much like 9/11 was for us Americans. It is so hard to accept that something so horrible that happened for no sane reason.

It is hard to watch this story unfold, but it is inspiring to see the Norwegian people reaffirm their dedication to democracy and diversity.

Ann is absolutely right, and I feel ashamed that I didn't say anything before (even if, honestly, I have some excuses, coming from my personal life).
I feel particularly close to our Scandinavian friends because I have been in their marvellous country, I was able to experience their unique inner beauty.
And I chose accurately my words, in saying this.

Thanks. Although I'm Swedish, I live about as far from Oslo as I live from Stockholm, so these horrible attacks sure has had an impact over here.

My heart really goes out to you Scandinavians too. Of all places for such a tragedy to happen, why in such a peaceful country where violence is practically unheard of? (and that well wish is coming from a half 'Scandihoovian' as my mom referred to us as being, my Grandpa was born in Stockholm and my Grandmother's parents came to the U.S. from Norway).

I just wanted to add my condolences for Norway. The whole event made a big impact on me, especially when I saw the pictures of the young peopl who died in the newspapers. I greatly admire the spirit of Norway to make the commitment not to let an act of horror change their intention of a free society and democratic Norway.

They buried 34 victims all across Norway today. The youngest was only 14!

Thats so sad, what sort of depraved person could cause such a tragedy? While murder is always terrible at any age, it seems especially tragic when the victims are young and would never have the chance to grow up and didn't have much of a life yet for the very brief time they were among us.
