So who else likes to use made-up sci-fi words in real life? I use plenty Farscape words for some reason

especially frell. And dren. And tralk and snurch and sonovahazmot and mivonks when the occasion calls. Well and "targ dren" replaces "bullshit"

I know a lot of people use "frak" from BSG and I've just started watching BSG recently, but I don't know I never use "frak" in real life, I just think it sounds like too similar to the original and well that's no fun... I think "frell" is much funner to use

Smeg the smegging smegger that smegged me...
Red Dwarf
I've attempted giving the "Rimmer Salute" to my husband once. Didn't work to well, I guess. I watched too much of the show that I still sputter out Brittish slang all the time. Git, Goit, Loo, etc...

I use "frak" all the time. Pretty much my entire group of friends could be classified as geeks (or significant others of geeks who have learned to ignore our idiosyncrasies) so no one really thinks anything of it.
From the DC Comics Legion of Super-Heroes (set in the 30th century), I also acquired "grife" and "nass" (as in "bloody grife!" and "shut your mouth, you nasshead") Since I stop collecting them, I don't use them quite as often anymore...

Even though I'm Swedish I have noticed that I use "frak" on occasion.
Funny thing is that I've just started watching the thrid season of
Veronica Mars and there is a direct reference to BSG and "fraK" there, and then I've heard Veronica use it from time to time. Nice way to circumvent network censors I suppose...

Heh I don't know any sci-fi geeks in real life I bet everyone who hears me use words like "frell" etc goes in their head like "what the frell is wrong with her??"

(well they probably don't think "frell" though

)

I occassionally use Hezmanna.

Not frell, though.

And in moments of extreme exasperation: "Beam me up, Scotty."

I've never used "hezmana". Just sounds too long

but I do shorten it to "hez" sometimes

There's also "luckier than (or lucky as) James T. Kirk." That might just be me, though.

Smeg- isn't exactly a made up word as much as it is... a medical... vulgarity.

I know.
I end up blushing whenever someone asks me what it means...
