So, last weekend, I was flipping through the TV stations and what did I find on ESPN2?
The sanctioned National Championship USARPS competition.
Yes, it had competitors. It had spectators. It had announcers and officials. There were coaches. There was strategy. The 'moves' had names. And it even had Corporate Sponsorship.
What is USARPS, you ask?
USA Rock, Paper, Sissors League.
I seriously wish I was making this up.
First sign of the apocolypse?

Oh, but I knew that the end was near when I heard that there were actual championships for
Extreme Ironing. But at least we'll be well starched and able to figure out who goes first when the locusts and plagues descend.

I wouldn't think Rock, Paper, Scissors would be particularly enthralling to watch.

I am more of a reader than a watcher of TV. I suppose TV will continue to desintagrate around me without adversely effecting my life. I like getting these reports on the deteriortion of the shows, so at some point I can make the decision to cancel my cabel connection, thereby saving a little money, and just live with my Enterprise (and other) DVDs. I won't miss cable; I will be happy as long as they keep publishing books. I hope others of you feel the same?

Yes, yes. I only wish writing came as easily to me as reading. And research.
Actually, I am beginning to be concerned about the days when I will not have anything like the access to books that I have now.
The only thing I miss about cable is the Sci-Fi channel.

Mostly - I'm not a big TV watcher at all - but I am rather fond of the History Channel.

I'm a big fan of Discovery, TLC, and History Channel myself.

*I* knew the end was near when I saw that the National Enquirer had gotten a photo of smoke that had billowed in the exact shape of a devil. Of course, that was in 1984 or something. I wisht the end would hurry up and come if it's gonna. (I like how I use words like 'wisht' and 'gonna'...but I NEVER mixup me its's's's.)

I don't think I'd turn the TV on if it wasn't for cable.
