I'm sitting here and a gnat goes BUMP against my monitor, bounces off, and FLIES IN MY EYE.

I've to wash it out twice. Weird, weird feeling. I finally just plugged my nose and dunked my head in a sink full of water! :bitch:

Get outta there you bastard gnat!

The roach thing was a common complaint when I did my training in the ER at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. A resident there actually gained worldwide notoriety after publishing a paper on how to get roaches out of ears. Apparently they tend to cling if you try to wash them out, and if you use alcohol to kill them first and then use tweezers they come out in pieces. This guy decided to put lidocaine solution into the ear canal, thinking it would anesthetize the bug so it wouldn't cling. Instead, it hated the sensation of being numb so much that it turned around and ran back out of the kid's ear. It was a consistent response. Happened every time. 8)

And Elessar, if you can't find the bug but it still feels like it's in there you may have a corneal abrasion. They feel like something in the eye, and usually heal in a day or so, but they can get infected, so if your eye turns red go see an eye doctor, okay?

Eeeewwwww... I always thought the roach-in-ears thing was a myth used to scare small children! Guess not... :?

I hope they had good pest control in that ER. Ewwww.

I'm so glad I didn't know that could happen when I was growing up in Florida.

As it was we had plenty of giant flying palmetto bugs in the house -- it was one of the terrors of my youth -- though they were mostly too big to get in the ear. Once I put on a kerchief at girl scout camp and all the girls started screaming at me because I'd somehow managed to put it on with a palmetto bug still on it.

I started running and pulled that kerchief off and just kept running....

Yeah no problem. I'm pretty nervous about my eyes since my surgery. It feels ok this morning. Thanks Dr. D!

Don't mention it. 8)

What's knowing a doctor good for unless you can get a free consultation every now and then, right? I'll be sure and let you know the next time I need to do some differential calculus.
