Apparently he directed some of the real favorites. I'm not a big TOS buff but, live long and prosper.

City on the Edge of Forever and The Trouble with Tribbles are two classics, that's for sure. And at completely opposite ends of the spectrum, tragedy and comedy.

Ninety-six is a ripe old age, at least. I always find it sadder when someone younger dies, but by 96 you assume he had a pretty full life.

I found something hopeful in this article about this director's death. It said TOS did not reach its peak of popularity until after the series was over. Perhaps, that can still happen with ENT?

Does it date me to say that I met the writers of both of those episodes when I was a Star Trek struck teenager, and was very excited to do so? :?

Yeah. I thought so.

I didn't meet them, but I read their books...just because of Star Trek!

David Gerrold was just a normal, if rather nerdy, middle aged fellow in glasses. Harlan Ellison I don't remember much about. I was too lost in the miracle of meeting him, I guess.

Composer Alexander Courage, famous for the classic Star Trek fanfare, also died the other day, at age 88.

Heh. With all of his body of work, the thing he's the most famous for was written in a week.

Jeez. They're dropping like flies. Makes me feel old.
