Burn Notice

This is a show I'm thoroughly enjoying. Everything about it is great, the writing, the characters, the pacing, every-thing. You've got Briscoe County Jr. and B-Movie King Bruce Campbell. Jeffrey Donovan who I loved in The Pretender and Threshold and Gabrielle Anwar. I especially love Gabrielle's character Fiona, she took that role and tore it up. I'm a little disappointed the Northern Irish accent is more toned down this season than last though. I loved it. I definitely like her much better in Burn Notice than as Princess Margaret in The Tudors. But as much as I do love Gabrielle in this role, I can easily see Jolene Blalock really sinking her teeth into this character as well. Anyone agree, disagree, don't care?

I wish Fiona was better written. Every character on that show snaps and pops but I sometimes worry that she doesn't get the same consideration as the others. You can really tell that Anwar is the one who makes that part work for what it is.

Yeah, Jolene would've made a great Fi. Still, I think Gabrielle Anwar is pretty great in it too (and she's rather easy on the eyes as well

). But I did miss the first five episodes or so of
Burn Notice. I hope to catch it in reruns. I like the relationship between Micheal Westen and Fiona, but I wouldn't call myself a "shipper".
I also liked her as Princess Margaret in
The Tudors, but they botched the history there. Her character was more like Henry VIII's sister Mary. Gabrielle's character was an amalgamation of Henry VIII's two sisters Mary and Margaret. Mary was the grandmother of Jane Grey (queen for nine days) and Margaret married the king of Scotland and thus came the Stuart claim for the English throne. Alas, Gabrielle's Margaret didn't have any offspring and was killed for no good reason. Either of those real storylines would've been great for Gabrielle to sink her teeth into.

I'm hoping the writers will do more with Fiona's character development and back story in the second season now that that whole on and off again relationship issue with Micheal has been pretty much dealt with in the premiere episode. I rather like Michael and Fiona as colleagues/friends as opposed to lovers.

She's smokin'! I think she's in the best shape of her life. I'm startin' to have a little gay crush on her...

I agree that Gabrielle Anwar has made the role Fiona her own because the writer has not given her much of a background story to work with, former IRA gunrunner and Michael's ex.
Frankly, I'm not sure Jolene would improve the role/character. From the two acting roles which I've seen completely, Medea and T'Pol, she brings a bit whiny in both roles and there is nothing whiny about Fiona.

Perhaps, but I wonder how much of the fault lies in the writing of those roles. Even the little that we've seen of Fiona in BN, there isn't anything in the writing to suggest that Fiona is a whiny character. Frustrated, yes. Especially with Michael and their relationship in the first season. Fiona is very much a decisive person and I have no doubt that given good writing to work with Jolene could do the same. Good lord, the woman married her agent, or an agent at any rate, you'd think he'd help her land better roles!

She's got a nice bum as well...

And yeah, Gabrielle's really made the role of Fiona.

If you're talking about Jolene's husband as an agent, I believe he moved well beyond just an agent. Michael Rapino is head of the music company that recently paid Madonna $12million for either being very productive or just sitting on her butt all day. The company is not a record company per se but a distributor of music and all the ensuing regalia. He talked about it on one of the cable business channels.
Has Jolene every shown any interest in going into this area?

We shall not speak of Jolene's husband! It breaks my heart that she's married!
I just saw the Burn Notice episode where Gabrielle used her real accent on a mark and it was bizarre. Her American dialect is just so good and natural sounding.

Michael Rapino (Jolene's hubby) is the CEO of the world-wide concert promoter and events company
Live Nation. So she really doesn't need to work.

True, she doesn't need to work to live, but at that point, it's really about being productive and contributing to society.
As for her hubby, KTR, I feel for you, but we all have a cross to bear in life and yours is to look at Jolene from afar.

Oh, but Jolene is married. NOT T'Pol!
Koss doesn't count.

^ Well, she's telepathically bonded to Trip, and that's as much of a Vulcan marriage anyone can get. Besides, I don't want to compete with Trip.
How did a conversation about
Burn Notice turn into this...?
