It could also be a schnooner from 1933, but they think it's 'the Monticello' that ran aground in 1862 evading the Navy during the Civil War! How cool! :D

Anyone know this line?

William: You dumb bastard *hahaha*, it's not a schooner, it's a sailboat.

Kid: A schooner IS a sailboat, stupid head!

William: YOU KNOW WHAT?!? There is NO Easter Bunny! Over there, that's just a guy in a suit!

Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

Yay Canucks!

It is interesting. If it is the one that sank in 1933, it may have been a rum runner bringing in booze to Mobile which was a favorite entry point. Prohibition ended in '33 so they may have been stocking up to await the change in the law, or just trying to fill a pent up demand. :-)

There was an interesting article in the Alabama Historical Society's magazine about it a couple of years ago. Although not as big or as well-known as Chicago, smuggling and organized crime had been honed to a fine edge on the Gulf Coast.

There was a really cool picture in the article of a Customs Guard sitting on top of a truck full of confiscated liquor, guarding it with a Model 1903 Springfield army rifle.

Oh, I do enjoy things like this. It's just too bad it took a nasty hurricane to find it. :( I hadn't seen this so I'm glad you pointed it out. Hmm, I wonder which ship it is.
