Check this out:
http://www.ussintrepid.org/phpBB2/album ... pic_id=158This was taken at a con in Dearborn, Mi. The dog's name is Worf, and he belongs to Tony Lesnik, who is the "captain" of the U.S.S. Intrepid club I used to belong to. One of my best friends Sheryl used to live next door to Tony and his wife Wendy, and I used to talk to Worf through the window all the time!
HOLY CRAP!! I just found out I have less than six degrees of separation from Connor Trinneer!!

Congratulations, Aquarius.
Me, 1 degree of separation from Connor Trineer:

Hey, you're still prettier than he is, and that's saying something.

Than Michael Jackson. Oh I get it.
I can tell a funny story about this picture. I posted it to my astronomy club list, which is like 90% older men. So one person emailed back. Well, at least you look nice. I emailed back to him, "I keep forgetting. He's [Connor is] so drop-dead gorgeous I keep expecting even the heterosexual guys will get it." Unfortunately I acidentally sent that message to all several hundred people on the list. *YIKES* Resulting in lots of emails from friends assuring everyone on the list that "I don't get it!" LOL

Maybe I'm not getting anything tonight. You're prettier than CT AND MJ!!! I'm sure CT would agree. MJ might not.

Okay, well I'm jealous now...
It's okay. I haven't been to any Trek cons in years so I guess I'm doing pretty good with the dog!

Well, some folks are going to Las Vegas this year if you want to get on that train.
Not me.

I can't this year due to sheer poverty. The s.o. has been unemployed for a while and is trying to start his own business...I changed jobs last year and basically became an independent contractor so I haven't had the steady paycheck of being someone's "employee." As it is I'm starting a second job this week just to make the ends meet and hopefully have a little extra left over to start digging myself out of my hole. Once I'm not behind I can start saving again, and a vacation is on the list of what I'm saving for.
So, it looks like 2010 will be the target year for going to the Really Big Con, or maybe the cruise if they're still doing that.

That sucks. But you're in the same boat as a whole lot of other people.
I was kind of amused to notice that HGTV, the home of shows about young couples out shopping for ridiculously perfect first homes at mindboggling prices, now has a show devoted to making part of your house into a rental apartment for extra income.
Times have changed, that's for sure.

Yeah, for those who know what I'm up to.....I never sold either house.
(Well actually, we sold BOTH and on BOTH there was a divorce btw couples and so the deals fell thru. What are the odds?)
So we are poor. For now.
We're trying again in spring.

Well, hopefully I'm not in so deep that I can't get out in fairly short order. I'll just keep working this second job until I can't take it any more, all the while trying to cultivate more clientele at the salon.
A few more colors per week and I won't NEED a second job...

Oh-oh. Highlights are the first thing I give up when I don't have steady income.
Although, you might pick up other color work. I mean, if you're really turning grey, and you're desperately trying to get a job, dye might be an important part of your job-hunting strategy. I know I think about going back to a fulltime non-freelance job not because I really want one but because I'm conscious that I'll be fifty soon and it could be a lot harder to get one after that.
Two divorces in two couples buying houses does seem like extraordinarily bad luck, EK. I sure hope those DVD players you're buying from China work!
