Re: Fanart
The second one is fabulous.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Fanart
You know, Asso, if you found the first one more beautiful I would worry for you
It wasn't my intention
I mean, manga has a very defined style and rules for characters, so not always "Enteprise: The Manga" characters would look like their counterparts in the TV show.
Take Hoshi, for example. In the height of irony, the only main character in the TV show that has slanted eyes, in the manga should have very big and round eyes, because she is a "naïve" character and good, naïve, nice or impulsive characters have that type of eyes. So Hoshi would be:

I put bangs in her because manga female characters almost always have them (Hoshi has the most un-manga hair ever
)
This would be a sketch of Hoshi sideways:

I don't know if her ponytail would stay like that or I will draw it lower.
On the other side, Malcolm should have slender, narrow eyes, because cool, cold, very intelligent or evil characters have them. So all Vulcans, except Kov, would have them. Malcolm should be something like this:

Archer has slender eyes too, because he is a more "serious" character. Trip? Totally round. Like Travis. I'm too tired to draw Travis (yeah, poor Travis, everybody ignores him
)

Alelou wrote:Escriba wrote:OK, this is a drawing I did for Little Red, inpired in her "April Challenge Story". She thought you'd want to see it too, so I'm sharingAgain, it's a manga style comic. It's done in a rush, that's why Trip doesn't look like himself
(or Archer, but that matters less
)
HERE is the pic.
I have to confess that I lack the gene for manga, but I think you totally nailed Archer there!

Re: Fanart
The eye thing is kind of weird. Japanese manga artists somehow decided that big round eyes denote innocence and sweetness and goodness? What's THAT about?
Malcolm looks pretty good, though.

Re: Fanart
Well, they believe every expression is in the eyes (you know, eyes are windows to the soul) and the bigger the eyes, the clearer the feelings. Slender eyes don't leave much space to do different things with them.
Besides, graphically it has its sense. Bigger eyes make the characters look much younger, almost a child and, you know, apparently children = innocence. Japanese aren't the only ones to draw like this, most of people tend to it, unconsciouslessly. Look at Disney cartons, for example, innocent heroes and heroines had big eyes, but evil characters... slender or narrow eyes or small irises (wich is another trick to make a character look evil.)

Re: Fanart
Ah, okay. I guess that makes sense. Actually, primates are hard-wired to feel all cuddly and nurturing towards creatures with eyes that are outsized for their bodies, i.e. babies. Also big heads, little bodies.

Re: Fanart
OK, to commemorate that chapter 4 of "Mirage" is in ff.net, I've made a cover. It's not a masterpiece, but it'll do

Re: Fanart
Nice Malcolm picture. Viewed straight on, the outer edges of his narrow eyes would turn down slightly. From that angle, maybe you're right. It's pretty good.
Thank you for the intro to manga. Interesting . . .

Re: Fanart
OK, so I've done another drawing inspired in "Mirage" (I'm obssessed with it right now, bear with it
) This one is king of special, because I've decided to use my new pen table to actually paint it. I'm not good painting. No, really, I'm not.
T'Pol and T'Pau
I'm painfully aware that they don't look anything like their counterparts and that T'Pau's hair is a mess, but I was just experimenting.

Actually, I really like how you did T'Pol's hair. I wish it had that kind of texture and movement in the show. I am so sick of the Vulcanoid hair helmets. Pay the actors to cut their hair, or get better wigs that look like they really could've grown out of someone's head.
ETA: T'Pol is very recognizable...despite having better hair here than in the show.

Re: Fanart
Why isn't "Mirage" at Triaxian Silk? Is it one of your stories? And why wasn't I notified since I made you one of my favorite authors over at fanfic.net.
BTW, I've been posting my E-squared saga at fanfic.net, and in the process of rereading, I've been horrified by the typos, and sections that are just lame. So I've revised slightly (biggest changes are in Reunion chapter 1--the rest of the chapters mostly have fixed typos) and the revisions are posted up through Brainstorm chapter 3. So if someone wants to read my saga, there's never been a better time.

Re: Fanart
You don't get alerted about favorite authors unless you put an author alert in there too. I also suspect the whole thing resets itself occasionally, but I could be wrong about that.
I wish there was a way to get an author alert that stays in your own fandom. I find it awfully depressing to see Rigil Kent diligently working his way through a CSI story but NOT "Divergent Paths"...
