Re: TRIaxT'PoliTAN MUSEUM of ART - Fic Pix
Well, whether or not she gets in trouble with the Trek camp would also depend on if it's a picture of Jolene or "T'Pol." CBS/Paramount/whoever doesn't own Jolene, just images of her portraying her fictional character.
That said, then the other side of that coin would be how Jolene and/or her lawyers feel about it. She's a self-proclaimed fan, so I'm sure she knows we do this crap so I can't see her making that big a deal about it...
...but in both instances, I would say avoid turning a profit and nobody should care. They usually only care if they think you're making money and they're not.

Re: TRIaxT'PoliTAN MUSEUM of ART - Fic Pix
I totally see the concern.
But if there's absolutely no trek and it's just paintings which have been photomanip'ed to resemble other faces.....what footing would they have?
(And please play devil's advocate here....I am actually looking for some back and forth discussion as I am trying to think this thru myself).
If there's NO trek symbol and I am going to make my sig not say "enterprise" in it....and it's an OLD painting. And the person's face is not from some obvious source....then..........'
(and I'm thinking jolene can't get mad about this image....i mean she's got on WAY more clothes than normal.
)
But either way.......I love my poster!!!!!

Or she might be upset at suddenly wearing all those clothes.
If you were not marketing this as in any way related to Star Trek, or, for example, at a Star Trek convention, your argument might hold. If you so much as mention it... you might be in trouble. But again, just don't make any money. Frankly, by the time you pay for the production on a print that size, you might have trouble getting anyone to pay enough to give you much of a profit anyway. (Priced toner lately?) As much as we all enjoy your creativity, you'd have to find an audience that wants to pay real money for fine art that's been T'Polified, right now, in this economy. Which is my way of saying ... I wouldn't invest in a lot of inventory up front.

Re: TRIaxT'PoliTAN MUSEUM of ART - Fic Pix
Yeah, totally.
I only got the one done at the photo store to see how it'd look...$29.
I priced out this awesome local (green enviro friendly!) printer and if I get 50, they are only $9 a piece, which is pretty good.
But my current plan would be to NOT get any more printed yet, just to try and sell em on, say eBay, and if I sell one, then print one, and if I sell another, print another. I would make absolutely $0 at first. But once I prove that they can sell and I haven't had my house flattened by a giant UPN logo or anything, then I can get the 50 printed and have some wee stock.
Course, anyone who wants one here can PM me and I'll give ya it for my cost to print and ship.
I know, hey? Oh, Jolene, you naughty gal.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: TRIaxT'PoliTAN MUSEUM of ART - Fic Pix
This sort of reminds me of Archer's weird outfit in A Night in Sickbay. Yes, I can just see poor pregnant T'Pol forced to act out the part of the Goddess of Fertility in some alien ceremony...

Again, if you're not marketing this as T'Pol, no one from Trek or its parent companies could really come after you, because they don't own Jolene.
Some stars get kind of funny about their image being used without their permission, especially if they think someone is making a profit. Again, if Jolene's been a Star Trek fan since before her involvement with Enterprise, then she has to have at least a vague awareness that fans do this stuff, so I think we would've heard about it by now if she was gonna get all persnickity about this sort of thing. Still, I would refrain from making a profit--ever--in order to stay off the radar or at least stay on everyone's good side, and only charge for what it cost to make the thing and postage.

Re: TRIaxT'PoliTAN MUSEUM of ART - Fic Pix
Thanks!
The wedding is coming up, too. It's on Saturna Island.
I asked Kate for a few pictures of herself and Carl that they "didn't hate" (so they couldn't complain later: "I hate that picture!"). And Kate send me a couple, and goes, "You're gonna chop our heads out and stick them to something weird, aren't you?"
I hope they like the Rembrandt. But I bet it freaks them out a bit.
So, I also hand-painted them a map of the Broken Group. It's 18x24 canvas.

Priso n' me and then had soooo much fun kayaking all over there a few years back. It's weird there. A billion little west coast islands with sand and rocks and trees and bald eagles and starfish and deer and whales and otters and wolves that swim between the islands and have adapted to marine life. WOLVES! THAT SWIM! It's creepy cool.

No boats but kayaks are allowed in the park. If anyone is ever looking for an amazing vacation, try the Broken Group Islands.
(I'm second from the right in the hat).

You guys are just so adorable.
I love Scotland's Western Isles. I spent a couple of wonderful days on the Isle of Mull once while hitch-hiking around Britain. (Had to pay for the ferry, though!)
