I know nothing about gears and all that - 4 low means nothing to me. (It took me long enough to learn to drive an automatic as it is.) But, it all sounds scary, as heavy objects out of control will, and I'm glad you're alright. But dare I ask what accident was scarier than this one?

I'm having a great laugh over the fact that a protest that's suppose to go off in DC next month has been told to take down their signs and they are crying about it saying it's Bush's fault.

No you morons.....the city is a completely different animal from the federal government!

The city is the one you should be mad at!

But at the same time who can blame the city???

What Washingtonian isn't sick of having the city trashed by a bunch of rowdy protesters?

Doesn't matter if I agree with you or not.....it STILL doesn't give you the right to come shit on my lawn....NO matter what you might think.

Every REAL 4 wheel drive truck/SUV has the option of "4 wheel drive in a High or low range of gears". 4 low is used for trying to muscle trailered objects out of sticky situations, 4 high is for getting yer Car/Truck/SUV out of mud, snow, or what ever you got stuck in.

It wasnt an Accident, thankfully. I call it an incident, cause it almost was an accident.
Back in the summer of 97, I was mowing a hay field above a pretty good sized pond. Well this field at the part that was right accross from the Pond gets steep really quick, It had more then a 45 degree grade.

Well I was mowing strait up this hill. An like several passes before, right before I reached the top I had to down shift the Powershift Transmission in order to make it up the hill. Well I went to down shift, an the Transmission didnt shift. It was momentarly stuck in a neutral position.

Well The tractor ofcourse started to roll back down the hill pretty quick Twards the Pond, all the while with a running Haybine hooked to the rearend.

I got lucky I was able to stear the Tractor safely so that it coasted to a stop. But it wasnt by any means easy. I couldnt use the breaks cause they would of flipped that Tractor backwards at the speed it was going, an trying to get the tractor into gear was just as dangerous.

But I got lucky.
 Had to catch my breath, an wait for my heart to stop pounding after that ride.
TnT I love em. Very Happy

I think the most worried I've been where a tractor is concerned is when I found out the hard way that my employer neglected to inform be that the tractor I was using didn't have brakes. Fortunately neither the equipment nor its operator was damaged as a result.

Most scared I've been is a toss-up really. I've hit the ditch twice with that old orange truck of my dad's. First time was as a result of locking up the brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting a porcipine that had wandered onto the road. I remember thinking how glad I was that I'd installed some seatbelts not long before that as I saw that ditch coming up, but how pissed my dad was going to be for wreaking the only decent work truck we had. By some miracle, I somehow slid in sideways and it didn't result in any damage. The other time was as a result of letting myself get rushed on an icy drive home from school for Christmas break because of some egghead riding my ass. Truck did a 360 as it slid into the ditch. Again, fortunately no damage. More recently, my dad and I were taking both rear tires off of one of the pickups to get different ones put on the rims. Anyway, we had one both tires off, but we were having trouble getting a safety stand under one side because it wasn't high enough on one side. So dad got under there and started cranking on it some more to try to get it up higher. Catch was, we were jacking on the pumpkin, and since the tire was off already, we couldn't just let it down and try to go for another grab. The wind or something made the truck start to go. Fortunately, dad saw it, and got out from under there. I didn't know that at the time though, so I actually grabbed on to the bottom of the rear fender and tried to keep it from falling. I'm not sure why I thought that would work, but like I said I was pretty scared. We ended up getting the tractor to lift up the rear end of the truck to finish the job.

Dang. Those stories bring back memories. Not good ones. I remember when my brother-in-law (IQ in single digits) was working on his back under his car and the bumper jack kicked out. The fool had just raised it up on a bumper jack and slid under there, no block or any other safety precaution. Several of us were nearby. If anyone could have captured the escaping methane it would have powered a small city for several days.

My friend is 23 years old and he has grey hair showing up more and more, he even has a grey lock of hair on his forehead. It's usually genetics if people get grey hair at a young age.

If it makes you feel any better, my mom noticed my first grey hair when I turned 20. The good is that they come in slowly, so it's not bad!

I promptly dyed my hair bright RED. I'm back to a color that won't get me fired now, but that was a fun experience. Now, when my roots start growing in and the grey strands pop in amoungst my chestnut hair, I call them "highlights".

I'm 35 and I've had white in my hair for a decade now (I'm skipping gray and going straight to white). The hair color on my chin is primarily white with scattered brown.

My whine: too much rain this weekend. I couldn't go biking. And my Biology class starts tomorrow at 0800. Ugh. Too early for science...

It's never early for a Biology class :D . My last Biology teacher at vocational school was the one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. The guy was a former doctor and half the time was telling stories related to our subjects. Plus the fact that the guy was as blind as a bat didn't hurt either when we took tests.

I've had white hairs showing up since I was about 23, and I'm only getting more of them. Apparently I get to skip grey and go right to white too. :S
