Misanthropic's new story - Reflecting To You

Just returned from my holidays, i take the liberty to add my point of view.
First of all, i really liked We grieve and that is one of the reasons i was looking forward to reading this story.
Chapter one, very sad, but gives a good impression of how loss is felt. Lot of angst, but i could handle that.
Chapter two. I am very torn about this chapter. And confused. Trip is telling that in a way the bond is broken, but he has still nightmares, more of less caused by the bond. It looks like TPol is shutting him out, but that does not match with the scene in Terra Prime and also IMHO not with the scene in *the_abomination*. In Terra Prime TPol makes a deliberate action to hold hands (she taking the initiative) and i see no indication that she wants to withdraw for holding hands.
She has helped Trip with grieve before and esp. in season 4 she looks really uncomfortable when she knows he is hurt or angry. His opions does really matter to her.
And in *the_abomination* (if you want to use this), we see two people friendly to each other, even asking about missing each other, and trip even comforting tpol. If TPol really break up with Trip when they were grieving, i do not think they would have been so friendly to each other, esp. not Trip. He would be very unfriendly to her, because she had hurt him so much (like he did in some of the season 4 ep). It is more likely that Starfleet made them split up, because Terra Prime was making them a target.
Chapter three. Small, but liked it very much. I personally do not like the MU episodes (too much creepy doctors, hairy chest Archer, twisted TnT and cliche women) so if you can make me like a MU character like MAT, that is a compliment.
Chapter four. I always found it odd in some fan fic that suddenly Archer and Trip are friends again and he is like the big friend how comforts Trip. Duh! Their relationship is strained and that is why i liked the hints about that in chapter four. Nice scene about Archer, Trip and Tpol meeting MU TPol.

I just read part 6 on her site.

WOW, wonderful, very moving and well written. I knew from her other stories that she could make me feel what she has written.

This part does a wonderful job of letting us inside T'Pol's heart and mind. It is going to be very painful but clearly it will be worth it.

Poor Trip. One T'Pol wasn't enough for him to contend with -- now he has two.

I suppose T'Pol's reasoning is sound, but I guess I'm just a romantic at heart. I want their bond to be able to bring them together, not force them apart. T'Pol is going to have to be very careful that she doesn't drive Trip away permanently. But hey, maybe the second T'Pol is easier to get along with. Hmmm. I wonder if the MU T'Pol could feel the bond with Trip? That would be tough for T'Pol to lose her bondmate to another version of herself.

I'm really enjoying this story.

It's nice to see T'Pol's inner thoughts about her bond with Trip and how his emotions make it difficult for her to deal with her own grief and his as well. She's not used to having him gone from the ship's mess and she was hurt by that and that she couldn't sense his thoughts.I think the knockout drops may had to do somthing with it he didn't want to keep having bad dreams.

it looks like the appearance of the other tpol is already affecting the bond.
and we got some insight into tpol but still not ..
why not reach out to trip and try to teach him how vulcans grieve and how to help with the shielding
why not try and get them help back on vulcan

I'm curious to see what'll happen with the MU T'Pol too, and how all this will fit into IaMD, as well as TOS's Mirror, Mirror.

My guess is that while the bond might be involved, it won't quite be what's been speculated so far. I speculate that MU T'Pol might just get TnT thinking more than anything. I'm also guessing that MU T'Pol might get something out of it too, but not anything warm or fluffy considering that she left Scarface to die on Defiant. I'm guessing that she'll get the will to live and to fight the good fight out of it somehow. I also wonder if this will somehow be a reset button of some kind since Kirk & co. don't seem to know anything about the MU until after they get there some 100 years later, something that changes what happened between TnT after Elizabeth's death, but without anyone actually remembering anything from it.

But that's all just a lot of speculation on my part.

Well, I dunno what it is, but I just can't seem to get into this particular story like I have some of MAT's previous installments. Maybe that'll change as chapters continue, but right now, I can't help but to feel like T'Pol is treating Trip like crap ... again. She's not even clueing him into why she's shutting him out or why he's having so much trouble sleeping, and, to me, that seems to indicate a complete lack of respect for him on her part.

Ah well. Everyone else seems to be enjoying it, so I'll just keep my mouth shut in the future.

I tend to agree with you. You'll notice I haven't really said anything about that aspect of the story. Mainly, I'm waiting to see what happens before I pass judgement. Exactly, my point too on both counts. Just curious about the rest of the story, esp. the MU TPol, but the story is not what i expected and hoped for...

I have noticed that she tends to spend a lot of time on building things up. I will wait a while longer to see how things look once the real storyline finally gets rolling.
