Re: The Happy News thread
Imelda Marcos of the tennis shoe sector? I think this is a generational thing. I used to wonder why my daughter's and granddaugther's bedrooms were wall to wall possessions so you could not step on a clear piece of floor anywhere. Me and my siblings could have messy rooms, but you could always walk through them without stepping on stuff. I think it not because my generation was neater, it is because the succeeding generations had exponentially MORE STUFF! If I had one stuffed animal growing up, my duaghter had 20, and my granddaughter has 100. Yeah, must be the same with shoes, clothes...everything. Look at how modern closets are now whole rooms i.e., walk-in closets. In houses built before the mid 20th century, the closets were tiny or nonexistant.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Yeah. When I gripe about how many pairs of shoes the girl has, my husband's response is, "Well, then stop buying them for her!"
He obviously hasn't been shopping with a teenage girl very often. Sometimes I think that she believes that her life will come to an end if I don't get her what she wants...and she makes MY life miserable until she gets her way. Sigh. I'm so weak.

Re: The Happy News thread
I have like 5 pairs of shoes

One pair I wear like all the time (sneakers)
Another pair of sneakers I got from my sister and keep for like auditions and stuff (if it's not like rainy outside
)
One pair of sandals I need for work like they're not even mine, my friend gave them to me after my flip flops broke so like they're so big they're like a size 7 and I look like I'm wearing snow shoes.
I don't like them and I wouldn't have them if I didn't need them for my stupid slave job.

Another pair of sandals my mother bought me and of course they're like a size 5 so they're also huge
I rarely wear them even in the summer.
A pair of like black sneakers I needed for a job I no longer have (long story why but it's entirely the boss's fault I did NOT screw up!!
) well like actually it was supposed to be like "dress shoes" but I was lucky no one actually carries dress shoes in my size (phew... I hate dress shoes
) so they compromised and let me get black sneakers instead.
Well and like that job was all I needed them for so I don't even use them now. But like I keep them just in case I'll need some black shoes or dress shoes in the future.
And I don't have any slippers.

I've got my old low-quarters and combat boots from the Air Force which I still use for dress, one pair of sneakers which I barely use, one pair of flip-flops which I use to go between my room and the shower, and three pairs of work boots. Of course I only use one pair of work boots at a time, and right now I'm on a really old worn out pair of combat boots I got in high school, and one pair has some holes in them so I don't really use them anymore, unless I get ambitious and patch them, but if it get to that point I'd rather get another used pair from the surplus store.

Sell it dude! Are you crazy? Have you checked the price of corn lately? Sell those acres. You could probably get a good price for it, just as it stands in the field with somebody else agreeing to come and harvest it themselves.

Re: The Happy News thread
I can't list all of my shoes. As a matter of fact, I have one pair from last summer I've never even worn because they were on clearance for $5 and my aunt might have wanted them, but she didn't, and we have the same size feet, so I just kept them. But they're cute tourquoise dress sandals.
Anyway, as for happy news, I came home for the weekend and if the weather's decent tomorrow I'm going to a corn maze with my aunt. I've never been to one so it should be neat. (Mitchell, there's an idea for next year!)

Re: The Happy News thread
A year after a leg injury that took away the strength in the front of my foot, I tried to go backto high heels and looked like bambi trying to walk again. Now, I can do most chunky heels and narrow heels last... oh, a few good minutes. So I went through withdrawl when I had to sacrifice my spindly heels to charity and switch to flats. (My feet are happier, though, I must say. I no longer do the "Enzo Angolini hates feet but damnit I'm gonna keep walking in these because I look gooooooood" anymore. At least not with heels)
I still kept a few pairs to pull out and look at (and maybe put on and comically topple over). Other than those, my shoe closet is supremely boring.
My boot closet, on the other hand... I have enough to even name a few after characters, like my X-Men 3 Phoenix boots(But I want red boots now!!!!!)

Where do you get shoes?

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?
