Re: Zachary Quinto as Spock in Trek XI
I am not familiar with any of these actors. I am just not a big TV or movie watcher. So I will most likely come to this movie with an unprejudiced eye and let the movie stand or fall on its own merits. In Rigil's words, "may it not suck". But if it does, there is always more great fan fic to read with a glass of dry red wine in hand.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: Zachary Quinto as Spock in Trek XI
Well, I'm less and less interested in seeing it as the various plot points are leaked out.
And Sulu is cast.
This, I'm indifferent to 'cause I don't know this guy Cho. I wonder if it's worrisome that both he & Pegg are primarily known for their comedic talents...
And Sulu is cast.
John Cho and Simon Pegg have boarded the Starship Enterprise.
Cho has been cast as Sulu, the Enterprise's helmsman, while Pegg has signed on to play Scotty, the ship's Scottish chief engineer, in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" feature for Paramount.
The "Trek" casting deals appear to be closing at warp speed this week, with Eric Bana signing on Wednesday to play the movie's villain, Nero.
Already on board are Zoe Saldana as Uhura and Anton Yelchin as a young Chekov, the Russian-born navigator, as well as Zachary Quinto as a young Spock. Leonard Nimoy, who originated the role of Spock, is on board as well. Chris Pine is in talks to play the young Kirk.

The movie is expected to shoot from November-March.
Plot details are begin kept under wraps, but it is understood that the movie chronicles the early days of the Enterprise crew. The lead roles remaining to be cast are Christopher Pike, the first captain of the Enterprise, and Kirk's parents.
Montgomery "Scotty" Scott was the ship's third-in-command and was known for his problem-solving abilities in plot-critical situations. The role was originated by the late James Doohan.
Lt. Hikaru Sulu, known for his love of fencing, always was seen on deck piloting the ship next to Chekov. George Takei played the character in the 1960s TV series and the 1980s movies.
Cho starred as Harold in the cult hit "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle." He is reprising the role for the sequel. Cho is repped by Gersh, Principato/Young and attorney Alex Kohner.
Pegg, repped by CAA, starred in "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz." He next toplines David Schwimmer's comedy "Run, Fat Boy, Run."
This, I'm indifferent to 'cause I don't know this guy Cho. I wonder if it's worrisome that both he & Pegg are primarily known for their comedic talents...

Well, Robin Williams is a comedy guy, but he can play some pretty creepy bad guys too.

Re: Zachary Quinto as Spock in Trek XI
Is there any kind of coherant general plot summary yet? Does the action take place mostly planet side at the academy or will it be some kind of training cruise thing? Well, they can't kill off any of the principals, can they? (a favorate technique in the ST movies) Maybe they will fill the thing with red shirts and blast them all to bits with creative special effects - at least that would be of some interest, right Rigil? They will probably get me for a few bucks to see it once, even if it starts to sound like it will suck.

SPOILER!!!:
The way I heard it, some Rommies are going to travel back through time to try to kill Kirk, and the bulk of the show takes place on the E-nil with Pike in command.

Then why did you quote it? None of it is confirmed anyway.

Good point about quoting. Post edited. I guess I'm more concerned about where that could lead. Or I'm crazy. Take your pick, just don't tell me which.

Never heard of him. He doesn't look like Kirk much, but he's better-looking than Shatner, so I'm okay with that.

An Open Letter to JJ Abrams
For your reading enjoyment.
I think JJ would do well to heed what is suggested in this letter.

Re: Zachary Quinto as Spock in Trek XI
Well, I agree with some of the article. I resent the author assuming that Voyager and Enterprise are not of interest to fans, especially older fans. In that, the author of the article does not speak to me. But perhaps I am as irrelevant to the author as he thinks older fans are to the market research people.
