Yes, it's geared more towards kids/families, yes, it can get a little bit cheesy, but it's just not Halloween without treading on that hallowed ground. And I love it! Ghosts dancing a quadrille, a great storyteller telling the legend of Sleepy Hollow, pirates, witches, the headless horseman riding about, butternut squash soup, candle-lit lantern paths, bonfires... fun, even in the rain. (and now, my kitty is having a field day sniffing the NY dirt on my sneakers)

(BTW, anyone in spitting distance of Sleepy Hollow, you must check out http://www.hudsonvalley.org and Legend and The Great Jack o'Lantern Blaze. MUST. and I'm not just saying that because I'm a member of Historic Hudson Valley!).

How far would you say that is from Baltimore???

It's the village right next to Tarrytown (just keep driving on Rt9-- you'll see the old Dutch Church, Phillipsburg manor, sleepy hollow high...).

Cool little tidbit I learned from a storyteller a few years back-- Apparently Tarrytown was named such because it was a town with lots of pubs, and the men would "tarry" there on their way home... so the women started calling it "tarry-town".

Hmmm... well, Baltimore is about 2 hrs from my South Jersey home, my apartment is 2 hrs from home, and Sleepy Hollow is about 35-40 minutes from my apartment... so a rough guess is 4 1/2- 5hrs. :D Not toooooo far...

Of course, tommorrow we're hitting the Halloween-ed Pennsylvania Rennaissance Faire, so I'll have to see if that beats Legend weekend. At least it's supposed to be sunny tommorrow-- I get to be in costume!

:(

Too bad I have to work tommarrow.

I don't live too far from the PA faire....we could have met up.

Good news about Sleepy Hallow....maybe next year I can swing that.

I know someone buried in Sleepy Hollow, I believe. Hard to believe he's gone.

Glad it's you and not me :D

Impressive, Elessar. I hate running. I always have. But hats off to you.

I'm excited about CoffeeCat's new Paris/Torres site. It looks verrrry promising.

Well, we got the keys to the "lake house" yesterday! Went over and did carpet cleaning and tub cleaning with Aureilia (lee had to conveniently work nights....very handy).

CHECK this tub out. :upchuck:

:happyjump: Someone posted "You Are Cordially Invited" on YouTube and I watched it. I've wanted to see it for years. It was good, too. Some great visuals. If the quality had been better it probably would've been even more impressive, but it's not as sharp as on the TV screen.

Lots of good lines. Great line from Alexander: "You're asking me? I can barely say my own name in Klingon."

Would've liked to have *seen* Dax and Sirella hash out their differences, but I'm just so thrilled I got to see this episode. At last! :D

Edit: Since I didn't get to see Dax and Sirella's reconciliation, I wrote it. (Very very short.)

Been lazy about it too. When I stared back into fanfic I noticed there were no active P/T sites left and I wondered where the heck they all went. I found that others have been noticing the same and wanting one so I decided to start one. It'll be up soon - probably as a Christmas present to Voyager fans. In the mean time, try the old p/t archive at http://www.loony-archivist.com/ptcarchive/index.html which is no longer updated and has a bunch of dead links... or try http://www.tomparisdorm.com/tomparisdor ... entcatid=6 which is a site overrun by C/P slashers, but has a section for P/T stories.

^ From back when I was posting at TBBS I remember a nice girl who was a huge fan of Paris/Torres. She has a website for fics and stuff at http://www.intergate.com/~dama47/ (it doesn't work right now, but Google has a cache of the home page from October 29 so it may just be temporary).
She's got an awfully nice bum!

I know her - actually just met her on LiveJournal a few months ago. She's still an active P/Ter and she still writes fanfic (one of the better P/T writers, too)

I have a coupon for 2 free pieces of dark chocolate ganaches (their new chocolates) from Godiva! :happyjump:

What, you people aren't on their mailing list? Go to their website and sign up. If you can ignore a few promotional e-mails and mailings, you can get great coupons and notice about their in-store promotions and free tastings  (And last year, I won free Godiva for a year! I'm going through withdrawl right now.)
