I was at a Very Big mall today (fairly well known in my region, but I'm not mentioning names), when the fire alarm went off. Now, when I hear a fire alarm, I leave a place. I dunno... some kind of self-preservation instinct, I guess. So, I start walking quickly towards the entrance closest to my car.

NO ONE else is leaving. Heaven forbid they stop shopping or hawking their overpriced merchandise to pay attention to an alarm. Now, I understand maybe the employees, if this was a regular thing and they were warned. But all of the other shoppers?

My faith in humanity took a great hit today. :?

My guess is that it's a case of the boy who cried wolf. It happens all the time in college dorms, which is why even I will take the time to dress warmly because it usually happens during winter and the fire department takes its sweet time getting here to turn the alarm off. Crap like that has actually killed a lot of college students because every once in a while it turns out to actually be a fire.

The fire alarm here goes off like all the time and most people (including me) don't even bother to get out of bed. :? :? :?

I always go out for the fire alarm. With the proper layers for the weather and my purse, but I think I'll start bringing my laptop too. At least it's been over a month since we had a fire alarm here.

So here's a random story. I was watching "Breaking the Ice" on YouTube and whatever part I was watching ended right with Trip about to confess to T'Pol about the letter. Then I clicked for the next part and Archer was chasing a mysterious alien around. (Side note: Having learned from Rigil, I did wonder why the captain was chasing it and not at least Malcolm or another security person.) So after five or so minutes of this they mention that no Vulcan ships are nearby. This had me thoroughly confused, as the Timur was supposed to be there. Finally I looked and instead of bringing up the next part of "Breaking the Ice" I clicked on a part of "Silent Enemy." Whoops.

Lesson learned: when watching episodes that are in mutiple parts, make sure you watch the right episode. Although it would be neat if someone made a coherent episode out of clips from multiple episodes.

The have ENT episodes (spliced into parts) on YouTube? That wouldn't really be legal, now would it? :?

^ Actually, yes!

But what I meant was that I'm surprised it's on YouTube, because that site is usually very effective when it comes to remove copyrighted content. Especially if it's that blatant.

I was surprised too. Music videos are one thing, whole episodes another. But it's not illegal downloading on my end, so I figured I'll watch a few while they're up. Not like they're losing money from me. I can't afford the DVD sets anyway.

YouTube will periodically take stuff down and delete accounts as stuff is reported, but then the people who put them up will just create new accounts and put them right back up again.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.
