HELP! Neice request "Trip 'n T'Pol shirt" for Christmas

Postby justTripn » Mon Dec 10, 2007 1:25 pm

Hi. Remember our "newest convert"? A while back I told you about my niece, Erica, who was watching Enterprise on DVD with her mom (borrowing my DVDs). When they got to *the_abomination* and she heard them mention that Trip was going to die, she shouted at the TV:

"NO! NO! Happy ending! Happy ending!"

Now she wants "Trip 'n T'Pol" shirt for Christmas. How do I go about this? I don't even know how to get screen caps and when I do, then where to I take it to get printed where they don't have a problem with copyrighted material? SIGH.

Any advice? I want to be a good Aunt. :)

I think it's possible that you make a shirt printed with an image of Trip and T'Pol. I don't believe this can create problems. I know that there are shops specialized for this.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Okay. This is what I did to make this:

Image

I got a photo quality image from Misplaced. Maybe you could post a thread at Triptpoler's and see if she's still around. It needs to be 8X10, not avatar sized.

Then I uploaded it to my photomanager program (mine happened to be Adobe Printshop but you can use anything) and I reversed it. Then I printed it out on iron-on transfer paper for fabric, obtainable at just about any craft store. Then I bought an item to put the image on. Make sure if you get a colored shirt that your image has a colored background. The color might still affect the image, so safest is a white shirt. Wash and dry the item in case it shrinks. Then follow the directions and iron on the image. After that, the item needs to be washed in cold water inside out, gentle cycle, pulled out immediately and hung to dry to preserve the image.

Oh... and if you can't find Misplaced, chrisis is exceptionally talented at photomanipulation. He did my sig. :D

Misplaced is getting ready to move to a new house, smack in the middle of the holidays. Picture doing this with five kids, and her youngest is a wee 5 months old (and absolutely adorable, by the way)... I have a feeling she's got her hands full.

But there are many beautiful Trip/T'Pol wallpapers floating around that are probably large enough for a T-shirt...I have saved a ton of them, and I'm sure others have as well. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Oh--and KTR has a mess of hi-res Enterprise pictures (larger than normal screencap size) on his website...there might be a shot of Trip and T'Pol in there somewhere that would work.

I would like to add a note about iron-on transfers. For some the image needs to be reversed, but not all. So please consult the instructions with whatever transfer you buy.

Like to see the final result!

I haven't actually put them up on my website (too lazy I guess :? ). But PM me if you want some and I'll see what I have. :)

Thanks KTR and all. Mission accomplished! I didn't get a picture of the shirt, but I'll try to post the picture on the shirt as soon as I have a chance. Pretty cool trick--T-shirt making! This could be addicting.

I scanned in the page proof of the decal. The actual decal was a little better quality (darker). I put this on a white, fitted shirt.

I think this image is very symbolic!
