Yes, it's pretty big. It reached a size bigger than the Sun (although it's a great big nothing--just a shell of vapor). Those pictures were taken with a telescope. To the naked eye, Comet Holmes, when it was brightest, looked like a puffed-up fuzzy star.
The most remarkable thing about Comet Holmes is that it exploded for no apparent reason, flaring up while still out in the cold, out beyond the orbit of Mars. Most comets flare up as they approach the Sun, warm, and melt, releasing gases.
It is also not very comet-shaped. Reason being we see it pretty much head on. In the picture, it looks a little like a jellyfish.

I also heard that they had snow in Israel.
We et have too much sunny weather here to get snow. And when we have too much of high pressions in the atmosphere, we keep getting the Italian TV instead of the French one. I'm beginning to think that Asso is messing with my antenna.
