I knew it! I felt in my soul it HAD to be cyclical! The Big Bang from out of nothing just made no sense to me just as infinite expansion into nothingness also made no sense to me. You don't get something from nothing - there has always been something. Well, I am simplistic in my thinking, perhaps.

So he is reviving the Steady State theory. Those two theories have been fighting it out for primacy forever. Both of them have inherent contradictions, and each of them solves the other's contradictions while making news ones of their own. Neither of them explains the whole picture satisfactorily.

The Big Bang of course leaves the question, where did the big bang come from?

The Steady State has the problem, why does the universe appear to present entropy? The cyclical theory tries to prop up the Steady State theory but some people equate this to the 'multiple crystal spheres' approach used in the middle ages to explain the discrepancies found when the Church realized that their theory of Earth being the center of the universe did not match the data.

If the universe is cycling, then where does the energy come from for the second explosion? Observations tell us that the matter in the universe is expanding. As it gets farther apart, gravity will act more weakly on it, not more strongly. What force will pull it back toward the center then? Energy has to come from some where. The light and kinetic energy of the stars is being turned into heat even as we speak. eventually they will all go dark and the energy will all be heat. How will that heat energy act to drag the matter back to the center to power a second bang?

But if it doesn't, what happens at the end? Why did the bang happen at all, if there was no purpose to it? Contradictions in both theories.

Excellent, blacknblue!
Even I understood! :D
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Okay, Bnb, take your questions and make answers for them which puts all the theories together with logical explanations for the faults found in each. Make one unified logical theory. We are counting on you. The great minds on Earth, Vulcan, and throughout the known universe await your sage pronouncements!

I live *in* a college town (hec, I work for the University) and, yes, I believe it is. I haven't meet one that can be trusted to cross the street on their own. There are probably a few, but since they aren't being idiots they go by unnoticed.

It just rains around here and they all forget how to drive. sigh.

I work at a university too, and I think all it takes is the money to pay for a course to get in! As a special student (non degree) you don't even have to go through the selection process! Hate to say it but some engineering students don't even have common sense. I work in the Data Center which is in the basement of the Engineering and Mathmatical Sciences Building. One time, when the student engineering society was having one of its cookout fundraisers, they had a grill right under the air intake for the Data Center. It smoked us out and we sat coughing on the loading dock while someone walked around the building and discovered where the students were cooking! I hope none of those students ends up in Starfleet. Heck, I hope none of them end up in a position that might compromise my health again! :bitch:

This kind of stupidity is hardly limited to just college students though. I haven't seen too many people Linda's age in the ditch, but I have seen people my parents' age in the ditch and involved in these pile-ups like this. They don't want to do the speed limit even during ideal conditions, so naturally they aren't going to slow down just because it's slippery out or visability is reduced.

It bears repeating. By statistical definition, half the population has below average intelligence. And the average (I.Q. =100) is nothing to write home about.
