Why does each gender feel attracted to each other? Bottom line? Reproduction. Does a half starved waif look like they would be an effective reproductive partner? No. Neither attractive nor sexually stimulating to a mature male with a healthy libidio.

When women are asked who they like more, Natalie Portman or Scarlett Johansson, women (usually) answer Natalie Portman. Men, Scarlett, of course.

But when men are asked what men they think is more attractive, they usually say people like the new Bond guy, or Eric Bana, or George Clooney; which are the ones women choose.

What happens with us, women?

I am not talking about T'Pol. I am not talking about an slim athletic built. I am talking about bony women whose ribs are sticking out. I am talking about the kind of "woman" that you couldn't hug without getting bruised from all the sharp corners.

Unfortunately, the designers prefer tall, bone-thin women because they are literally coat hangers with legs. Having made dresses for myself and for my much thinner sister, I have to agree that it's easier to design for thinner because there's no need for shaping-- you can make nice, straight cuts and have a lovely garment.

I've heard tell that many actresses are forced to slim down to fit into the same sample sizes that the models wear.

Women then see this in the magazines, think that thin is the ultimate standard of beauty, and try to emulate these coathangers.

Fortunately, the minimum weight standard has been applied successfully in some high profile shows already-- yay! (Sad for the girls who are natually the perfect build for models and might get excluded without doing anything wrong)

I went into a store once last year with my best friend and her younger sister - one of those stores aimed at teenagers with nothing I wanted anyway. Her sister asked if they had a shirt in an extra large (mind you, the large was really rather small) and the employee said, "We don't carry extra large." Condescending as all get out.

Therefore I said, "Come on, we're leaving." We did. But it's ridiculous when this has spread even to the mall.

Well, that makes sense, especially for amateurs. But then what do the desingers get paid for? So it's easier to design for twiggy women. They make up a very small percent of the population. What are the rest of us supposed to wear, sweatpants and baggy t-shirts?

Not that I buy designer clothes anyway. The prices are just ridiculous. But I object to the trickle-down effect it has on making clothes smaller and harder to find for people who actually, you know, eat.

Well, after 10 years of driving, I had my first accident today... Fortunately no damage, but imagine my surprise when I was waiting for a light to turn green when I felt an impact from behind. So I look in the rear view and it's this VW Beetle. I figure she took most of the damage, but as it turned out all her car had to show for it was some paint transfer on her bumper and a crushed licence plate. I guess that German engineering is pretty good after all... Anyway, I should've been a total asshole and faked whiplash, since I'm evila nd all, but she was already plenty freaked out, so I didn't. I didn;t even get her name or her plate number like I should have, just in case. Oh well. I guess my excitement quota has been filled for the evening.

Does anyone know if there's some setting in IE that I could change to make sure that it actually marks links as visitied after I've visited them? About a week ago, my browser just stopped doing that. Its still displays old links that I've followed as being visited, but anything since then hasn't been. It's really annoying and I'd like it to go back to the way it was.
