Welcome back! :D
Everything all right?
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

You know, how is it that guys like me who cook and clean up after ourselves can't get women? :?

'cause you ain't desperate enough. I found one that could cook like an angel, and hounded her incessantly, day and night, pleading and begging, weeping and following her everywhere on my bleeding knees until she agreed to marry me out of sheer exhaustion.

:D This must have been before stalking laws?

CX, you just need to get off the computer and go meet girls. And try not to sound bitter when you mention the cooking and cleaning up after yourself. :)

I have tried and failed at the whole "going out and meeting girls" thing. I've since given up trying. :? I've heard the "you're the kind of guy I'd marry, not the kind I'd date" and the "you're a nice guy, but I just don't think of you that way" speech enough times that I don't care to hear them any more times.

Ah-HA!

Problem solved. You are targeting the wrong girls.

Stop targeting based on looks, and start targeting based on brains.

Drop the bimbii, and see if you can locate a female of human intelligence, reasonable maturity (i.e. with the emotional maturity at or above that of a 20 year old), who is halfway sane.

And stay away from the damn bars and meat markets.

Also, recruit some of your more socially polished female relatives to help you with your wardrobe and personal styling. It can't hurt. I have found that we generally have no clue about what they consider good to look at, other than that it ain't what we like to wear.

This perplexes me, as the whole point of dating to me is to find someone to marry. :?

It does seem hopeless until suddenly you meet the one who's perfect, CX. I think you're a little young to be giving up.

Smile and say hi to every woman you meet, and try to get involved in things that allow you to befriend people without all the stress of being potential dating material. Like for you, the Young Republicans Club or the campaign of whoever your favorite candidate is. Or some charity that meets with your approval. Or the local volleyball team, or whatever. Or take a class. Take a creative writing class -- maybe you'd meet a kindred spirit there. Square dancing. Or church. That's where I met my husband.

Yeah. Friends first. Then casual lunch or coffee to discuss club matters or talk about gaming or make plans for a new story collaboration. Then invite her over for dinner and a movie on DVD. Then before you know it you are hanging out. Then you are signing a lease together.

Ah hah -- yes, exactly -- learn from a master.

Or you could do it the way my husband and I did it. Say, "The Peace be with you" with a really big smile, have three dates in one week, think Oh My God I'm Going to Marry This Guy, have a terrible misunderstanding based on a non-native English speaker's literal use of the phrase, "Keep in touch," and then totally accelerate the whole process by resolving said terrible misunderstanding during, of all things, the Wednesday night Prayers of the People.

Bwa ha ha ha.

You just never know when it's going to hit ya.

Or you can do what my husband did. Befriend a young thing who shares your interests, someone with some brains and potential whose peers are ignoring her because she has yet to bloom. (He was 21. I was 16. I was the brainiac nerd no one wanted to date. He knew better.) Be her boon companion and non-judgmental friend, and then wait for her to grow up. Then change your tactics (After her 18th birthday, mind you! I'm not advocating breaking the law here!) and romance her. It takes a little longer, but it works. 8)

D! I'm shocked!!!

Marry your best friend. Tony was the proof that men and women really could just be friends--for like five years . . . and then well . . . things heated up.
