I tried some of the shortcuts people had recommended on the boards here but they threw so much other coding in I didn't recognize that I gave up and went back to the old paste paste paste paste paste....

News that Depths Part 3 was on the way seemed like a good excuse to switch avatars, Asso, so you can take this one as being in your honor.

Which old ones do you want, JT? I make avatars fairly compulsively when I want to relax so I have quite a backlog of them sitting in my files waiting for whatever story to inspire a switch. Now if I could just figure out how to make type over solid color instead of having to write it by hand, I'd be a happy avatar-maker. I'd also like to know how to animate the things.

I didn't write a whole story, just the first line of the story. But it's an appalling story starter, don't you think? But it does have a good temporal anomoly, sci fi element going for it.

They had a contest at HoT every year. You have to go the House of Tucker and search on "worst opening line," but then there are multiple contests. I had a couple other horrible entries I'd be glad to recycle here.
