Re: The Happy News thread
Aloha from Hawaii. Wish you were here.
I took a surfing lesson today.I can officially surf and I have the pictures to prove it. But I am exhausted! The hard part is paddling out with your arms. When did I become so weak? ARGH. But it was great.
The water is amazing this weird light blue green, like a swimming pool actually. Transparent. Palm trees, this weird grass I thought was astroturf and then I noticed it was real.
It is very Asian here. We have eaten all kinds of new foods: Japanese, Korean, Hawaiian.
Well here is some news with a Triaxain Silk tie-in. I saw Rigil Kent. Did you know Rigil Kent is another name for Alpha Centari? I am so far South I took the opportunity to see the next closest star to us other than the sun. It was hanging over the water just barely above the horizon.
Tomorrow my husband and I will tour the place here they film LOST! YES!

"SIGH" and "SIGH" again!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I'm on Ohahu in Honolulu which is a huge city with Wakiki Beach.
So you don't feel too jelous I will admitt that I sunburned my nose and now it swelled up. Oh dear. I was looking good! We are right across the street fom the International Market. I wouldn't have had to bring clothes. The first day we went shopping for all the tropiical clothes

Well, enjoy -- with more sunblock. Hope you get out into the countryside a little if that's what you like (plus you could see Rigil Kent better
). I've only been to the big island, but it was just drop-dead gorgeous. So glad my stepdaughter got married there because I don't think we ever would have gone without that excuse.

I'm SO jealous about the Lost beach. I would run around going, "This is where Locke stood up! And this is where Carl came ashore to warn them about the Others! And this is where Hurley kicked Sawyer's ass in ping pong! And this is where Michael built the raft! And this... Hey, where's the Hatch!?!"

Re: The Happy News thread
Well you're all going to wonder what the heck I'm doing on Triaxian Silk while vacationing in Paradise. Short answer: I'm an adidict. Also I am well feed and so sore from swimming and sunburn I can hardly move.
I saw the film location today. Sadly it wasn't THE film location, but A film location. In particular we didn't see that beach. We saw a valley where they filmed the playing golf scenes of Lost, some famous parts of Jurassic Park, parts of Pearl Harbor, King Kong and Fifty First Dates. Interestingly, the place is littered with old WWII bunkers that look just like "The Hatch." You wonder if the writers were inspired by their surroundings. The place did look extremely Jurrasic Park-like. As we were taking a jeep ride the tour guide took us through a fence with a renote control opener. He said, "This is for your own protection. We have velociraptors running all through here."
Tomorrow Pearl Harbor, the real Pearl Harbor.

The moment you said "valley", I thought of the golf scene

And you know what, it never occured to me before, but I bet I know the exact Jurassic Park scene that was from. I bet it was when Sam Neil and the two kids are walking across the plain and they see the "bird-like" dinosaurs flocking together like birds and they turn towards them and they find they're running from a T-Rex. Looks just like that.

Re: The Happy News thread
Wow you are good. How did you know that? Did you try to match "Valley from Jurassic Park" and "LOST golf scene" and pull that up? You're exactly right. when I get home I'm going to figure out how to get the pictures of this off my phone.
Bether, yes, I have Internet on my phone!
Oh and Wednesday, I did a "Stars and Stripes" tour (Pearl Harbor), while my husband did an "Around the Island" tour. On THAT tour he did see the beach where they film LOST. grrrr . . . *green jelousy smilie*
I saw a giant aircrft carrier docked in Pearl Harbor and last night drunken sailors woke us up at 3:00 carousing outside our seedy hotel, which is right above a disco.
