I adore contradancing, which is kind of like square dancing but in long lines and a lot more energetic, but I haven't done it in years. We had it at our wedding along with some other simple folk dances and it was a blast.

I'm going to have to start just going out on my own, since I cannot pry my husband off the sofa. I keep saying that, anyway, but it's kinda hard to do, because it would require prying me off my computer...

Since contra (contre) dancing comes from the French, I wonder if Cajuns have anything similarly named?

Traditional Cajun dances are couple oriented... the waltz, two step, that sort of thing. There are childhood games that are remnants of medieval dances, though. When I was in high school I studied the Cajun culture in French class. One of the games they taught us was a "circle game" to a chant. It's not precisely a dance, but you walk in a circle to the chant, which is about spring coming soon, and change partners. It resembles a medieval bransle (pronounced "brawl") or circle dance, and I was taught that at the time when it was popular dancing was frowned upon between mixed couples, so young people would make a circle alternating boy/girl and dance that way. It was mostly done in the winter months since they were too busy working to dance at other times, thus the words about "spring coming soon". I'm not sure of the spelling, but this is how I remember it goes.

Avenne, avenne, aven-ne
Que le printemps ramenne. (This is chanted or sung and the circle moves to the left six steps)
Avenne, avenne, aven-ne
Que le printemps ramenne. (to the right)
On se repo-se comme ceci et comme cela (jump forward at "ceci" and back at "cela")
Tappez les pieds (stomp feet 4 times)
Tappez les mains (clap hands 4 times)
Faites un p'tit tour chez le voisin. (turn to the right and switch places with your neighbor)

Then you do it again, ad nauseum.

It's beautiful to see similar things in distant countries. I can't swear, but it sounds not only like some French popular songs, but also like Italian.

Actually, that would be fantastic  I could stand the "Stick and Bucket dance" too (at least it would be funny :D )

Like every dance I know.

I wouldn't say "beautiful", but it's true that (with minor differences) all the countries have the same customs :D

I settled for a chicken wrap, mandarin orange wedges and a chocolate frosty from Wendy's since I'm too tired to cook and I don't want leftover low-carb stew (I'm just SO tired of green beans and turnips in my beef stew. I'd much rather carrots and potatoes, but those aren't on hubby's diet. Sigh. The things one does for one's spouse.) I have NO idea what's in a frosty. It's probably fake everything. Tastes good, though. Better than turnips, at least. 8)

Carrots are very sweet...thus, high carb. They're not allowed in Atkins induction. They're not bad for you, it's just that they'll throw you out of ketosis if you eat them.

Making: weird videos for weird contests :? which is like sooo time consuming cuz I have to like shoot the videos and then save all the individual frames and THEN edit all the frames in Photoshop and THEN re-sync them with the audio and Windows Movie Maker is such a screwy program that frells up everything all the time. :? :bitch: :explode: :banghead: and like today I've been so busy editing the frelling frames that I didn't even have time to eat. And I'm FAR from done. :? And so all I ate today was M&Ms someone left. Lots of them :? cuz I was really hungry. :? So now I feel pukey. :? :( :upchuck:

Sweets do that to me on an empty stomach, too. Time to get some fruit or vegetable matter and protein in there...and maybe some complex carbs to balance all that sugar. Cheapest thing would probably be whole wheat bread, peanut butter, and a banana. :D

You might have a gastritis, then, or maybe it's just the gastrocolic reflex. Caffeine stimulates both acid secretion and intestinal motility. You might try eliminating other gastric irritants from your diet (ahem. alcohol. ahem) and taking Prilosec OTC for a couple of weeks. If that doesn't help, then I'd drink decaf tea.
