Hell, no. I hate Guinan. Overly wise, all-knowing beings should never be allowed on starships; they promote lazy storytelling.

Good lord no. I didn't like her on TNG and having her on ENT would be akin to having Q show up.

Q: In all the Star Trek series, which real romantic relationship would you toss out (and AinT doesn't count since it never happened) and why?

Well, Trek isn't exactly known for its love stories. It still amazes me sometimes that Trip and T'Pol were such a convincing, attracting couple since the rest of the Trek crew romances I'd seen had been so... bland, perhaps? So, out of the ones that pop into my mind, I'd say Chakotay/7 'cause it's simply the worst one I can think of.

A weekly poker game, organized by ship's departments, then eventually have a yearly tournament (Kinda like World Poker Tour). Of course, I'd ask Hoshi to be my poker partner.

Q: You guys on TS have the "Not.Dead" shirts. If each member of the senior staff could personalize their shirts with a quote/picture, what would they put on their respective shirts?

Are you suggesting Archer et. al. would have a Not. Dead. t-shirt? (???)

I must not be getting this one.

Nah. I meant that if each member of the crew could personalize their own shirt, what would they put on it? (Not necessarily the Not.Dead shirt...I used that as an example.) For example, would T'Pol put "The cause is sufficient" with a pic of Surak on it?

I'd like to see A Q on Enterprise, but probably not John deLancie specifically. He expresses such intense personal interest in Picard and the Enterprise D that it's kinda hard for me to imagine he's been hanging around them for 300 yrs.

Archer would have a picture of a gazelle on his shirt. No words. Just a gazelle. A baby gazelle.
Hoshi's shirt would be the word "Hello" printed in 500 different languages.
Malcolm's shirt would have a 21st century military sniper's rifle and the words "My rifle is my best friend" on it.
Trip would have a detailed blueprint of the first warp engine on his.
T'Pol would have a plain white t-shirt. Putting messages on shirts is illogical.
Travis would have the words "Eat My Spacedust" and a line drawing of the Enterprise with warp distortion lines behind it.
Phlox would have the words "Trust Me, I'm a Doctor" on his.
Porthos would have one that said "I'm with Stupid" and an arrow pointing up, since it IS phenomenally stupid to put clothes on a dog.

A: I had to think long and hard about this one, but I would have to say Hoshi. Because she's a language geek and a teacher like me and, I could practice my Japanese with her.

Q: Not really a question, but here it is. In the spirit of the Olympic games, how would a similar event of such magnitude be organized in the Star Trek verse and name a sporting event (team or individual) Vulcans, Andorians, and Klingons would have the most aptitude toward.

A:

Andorians seem to be middle of the road, actually very similar to us in physical strength, speed and stature, but perhaps with a slight advantage in that their antennae probably get them a superior sense of balance. Gymnastics. They seem to have a history and cultural tie to bladed weapons, so maybe they could contribute to Fencing as well.

Vulcans have superior strength and speed to humans but probably inferior core strength to Klingons. Given that they have great muscle density, are often credited as endurant in harsh conditions, and I believe evolved in a thinner atmosphere, I would give Vulcans the upper hand in middle and long distance running, perhaps also sprinting. With a superior sense of eyesight, focus, and dexterity, you might also give them Archery and Shooting. With light weight and high upper body strength, they might also be really good at pole vaulting, long jump, triple jump, etc. They could compete with the Andorians in fencing and perhaps be victorious since they are probably faster, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that superior fighting spirit might give the Andorians the edge they need to nullify that disadvantage.

For Klingons, I think weightlifting, shotput, and greco-roman wrestling is obvious. They're probably too heavy and slow for things the Vulcans would be good at that takes advantage of full body speed and agility. But you never know. The Chinese are, as an ethnicity, not typically known for large build, but if you watched the Chinese olympic gymnsts, you know that stereotypes can be wrong. I wouldn't put it past the Klingons to excel at sports that require strength and middle-to-strong stamina and endurance like swimming. I imagine that with their huge pectorals and back muscles, they might really own at the backstroke and breast stroke.

Q: If Starfleet organized an IM football league - with each ship forming a team - what primary positions do you think the bridge crew personnel would play? Note: I believe CT said he was an all-American cornerback.

Nice analysis, Elessar.

Let's see:

Archer: Let's see, he plays water polo, which means he's got to have upper body strength and speed. I see him as a fullback,

T'Pol: Vulcan speed and dexterity. Wide receiver or running back. Maybe place kicker or punter too.

Malcolm: Ditto on the speed and dexterity. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the body mass to be on defense...running back. Maybe quarterback...his aim would be accurate! LOL
 Of all the senior crew, I can see him as an offensive coach.

Trip: Cornerback (since CT was one). Maybe even a left/right tackle.

Travis: I can see him as a defensive back or at the tight end position. Maybe as the center (the guy who snaps the ball to the QB on every play).

Hoshi: I have trouble imagining her on a football team, but I'd probably put her on special teams somewhere. Maybe punt returner.

Phlox: With his dexterity and build, wide receiver or halfback (carries ball during the run plays). I can see him running over defenders with the ball. LOL

Wow, LR. You sure know a lot about football. My initial response to this question was "What the heck's a cornerback?"

So... what's our next question?

You're quite welcome. It's my job, after all, to help people increase their life expectancy! 8)

Thanks for the link, LR. I'm a football ignoramus.

Cartoon characters, huh? Hmmmm...

Archer is Captain America
Porthos is Wonder Dog
Trip is Johnny Quest
T'Pol is Jean Grey
Hoshi is Rogue
Travis is Speed Racer
Malcolm is Wolverine
Phlox is the Beast

Q: If you were Chef and you had to cook a meal that had at least one favorite food for each of the main crew members, what would you cook? Include appetizer, soup, salad, main course, vegetables, and dessert.

Good choices, Dis. Trip as Johnny Quest. LOL! And Beast fits Phlox to a T. (Hee, and if Hoshi is Rogue, shouldn't Malcolm be Gambit? Sorry, R/S Shipper in me.)

Distracted wrote:Q: If you were Chef and you had to cook a meal that had at least one favorite food for each of the main crew members, what would you cook? Include appetizer, soup, salad, main course, vegetables, and dessert.

Appetizer: Fruit/cheese tray, including strawberries for Travis, pineapple for Malcolm, peaches for TnT, and cheddar cheese for Porthos.

Soup: Egg drop soup (Phlox) or plomeek (T'Pol). Alternate soup: miso (for Hoshi. Except I wouldn't make it too salty).

Salad: Veggie salad (T'Pol). Bacon, croutons and dressing optional.

Main course: steak and potatoes (Archer, Trip) or pan-friend catfish (Trip). Vegetarian lasagna for T'Pol, or sushi for T'Pol and Hoshi. I'd also look up Denobulan recipes in the database and see if there's anything I can whip up for Phlox from the stuff in Stores.

Vegetables: Broccoli, Potatoes, carrots, and any Vulcan veggie I could get my hands on.

Dessert: Pecan Pie (Trip), Peach Pie (T'Pol), Chocolate (Hoshi), Pineapple Upside Down Cake (Malcolm).

Q: The senior staff goes to an amusement park. Favorite rides for each of them?
