I got a rebate check in the mail today.

:dunno:

I actually got one. For $100 US no less. Never happened before.

We bought a refrigerator and they told us it came with a mail in rebate (yeah right). We filled out the paper work in a what the heck mood and mailed it in, never suspecting that we would ever hear any more regarding it. But today the check actually arrived. It's been less than two months!

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

So, we don't have to go without bacon if the world comes to an end:

How long you think it'd take you to go through 600 slices of bacon?

That would probably be a lifetime supply for me.

Your link doesn't work, BTW, Elessar.

Part of me wonders if this should really go in the "Whine" thread or perhaps even the "Happy News" thread. I'm so confused! :?

Any other rugby players here?

I have sustained by first rugby injury!!! I'm actually kind of proud of it, too.

Two, count 'em! Two broken ribs.

The ouch is the whine. The pride is the happy. :raspberry:

Also, surprised that there is rugby in football crazy state of Texas.

Yep, that one sucks. I'll just sit here and be grateful for just the broken ribs. They will heal way faster. Seems like a few lads get hurt in some way every week, but this was my first. Two of my brothers play with me on my team, and they've both been hurt before. The game is truly grand, though.

We're all into soccer over here. My Paris just went off to soccer camp today. I think he's captain of the team. (High school team.) It's going to be a tough year. The school moved to a new building and in the reorganization, we lost half our players! We used to get all the English-As-A-Second Language students (international students!). Kids from other countries, where soccer is BIG! Now they have to play for our rival. :(

Go! . . . whatever the name of our school is now . . .

(It used to be Schenley).

Hello again! I'm baaaack! Well, I got back from London yesterday evening but was too tired to get online.

It was fun. Got to see most of the things I wanted to see. I even bought some stuff - books and DVDs that I knew I wouldn't be able to find as cheap in online stores. Plus a small amount of souvenirs. And I drank some pints of beer too. My major complaint is that London has a severe lack of places to sit - you know, ordinary benches. And after a while my feet and legs were killing me, not to mention for my poor 79-year old dad.

The weather was nice as well. In fact we were only bothered by rain once. But lo and behold, it rained here at home when I got back yesterday.

I haven't uploaded the photos I took to the computer yet, so I can't show you anything right now.

SCI FI green-lights Stargate Universe

Proving that you can't keep a good franchise down -- at least not for more than a day or so -- the SCI FI Channel has green-lit production on Stargate Universe, the third live-action television series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The official press release from MGM and SCI FI is expected later today.

Universe will have a 2-hour premiere in 2009, and land in a regular time slot next summer -- meaning there will not be a production gap between the second and third Stargate television series.

The trade magazine also reported that the show will be set on board a previously unmanned ship called the Destiny, and will involve more space-based action than its predecessors. "Unable to return to Earth, the crew must fend for themselves aboard the ship, which has a preprogrammed mission taking them to the far reaches of the universe," the magazine said.

The producers are reportedly looking to cast a known actor for one of the leading roles, and fresh faces to round out the cast. This would follow the pattern of SG-1, which earned a lot of marketability from leading man Richard Dean Anderson when it premiered in 1997, rather than the largely unknown cast of Atlantis.

The new series will also be aimed at a slightly younger audience, SCI FI president Dave Howe said.

"This is an opportunity to reinvent this franchise and make it relevant to a new generation," he said. "We really don't want to be more of the same. It's going to build clearly off the existing franchise but with a cast that gives it a younger vibe."

"In Universe, we plan to keep those elements that have made the franchise a success, such as adventure and humor, while breaking new ground in the relationships between mostly young and desperate explorers, thrust together and far from home," series co-creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper said. "Above all, we believe the Stargate itself remains an enduring icon with infinite potential as a jumping-off point for telling stories."

Wright and Cooper will also executive produce. The two created Stargate Atlantis, which will end its TV run in January (story). An Atlantis movie will also air later in 2009 on SCI FI -- hopefully the first of many.

More information is expected very soon.

Ummmm... younger vibe aimed at a younger audience?? :? :? this kinda reminds me the parody in SG1's 200th episode :? honestly though I really like that most of the cast in SG1 and SGA is mature. Makes them more believable as characters. And also the main factor in casting isn't what they look like in a bikini. :? Not that any of the actors is like bad looking or anything. I think they're all great looking. But I don't think they're like "old" at all. I dunno maybe it's just me I identify better with characters in their 40's and 50's I guess... ugh I just hope it won't be one of those shows where the entire cast is like 20something "trendy models" ( :upchuck: ) who look like a bunch of clones of each other and have been cast based on looks rather than talent and the most "character" you'll get out of them is like "OMG, I once broke a nail in 10th grade and it was so horrible I couldn't stop crying for WEEKS". :? :faint: :explode:

GAH!! PLEASE don't cast anyone who looks like they'd still get carded!! Please!! And make sure they can act first!! :? :? :? :?

Well again though that might just be me :? :dunno: characters/actors don't appeal to me or attract me to a show because of what they look like or how old they are (or how old they act) :? actually I'd much rather see "Average Joe" and "Plain Jane" on screen than a bunch of model or model-looking people. They all look exactly the same and the stereotypical model look makes me gag. In the media it's the model-look that's "average" and "plain". :? :upchuck:
