Well since I've been AWOL the last month or so, we had Aureilia's 3rd birthday, my poor old 18 year old cat, Poor Boy, passed on (it was time) , and we got offers on both of our houses! Both houses are still in tentative mode, so I'll say nought as of yet. Don't wanna jinx anything.

But we found out that our fetus is a GIRL! And we got a 3d ultrasound done and it was amazing!

Wow, that's WILD. You already know she's a cutie and has great legs. Though I feel like saying, "Stop playing with the cord, honey! No, NOT around the neck, thank you."

Wow! I never saw anything like that before . . . Looks like a baby. OH!
It's weird to realize they are DOING stuff in there. When they are born they already have habits, like my Jeremy slept with his fist near his head and my Chris scrubbed at his right eye with his right hand, like a comfort thing. I kept taking his fist away afraid he was going to scrub his eyes out.

Yup, my granddaughter has been holding her ear when she's sleepy since she was in the womb -- they have it on the ultrasound! Sometimes she'll hold someone else's ear, as if to say, COME ON, put me to BED! It's so funny.

Wierd I was going to say that, but I wondered if it was too personal. My one boy still scrubs at his eye when he's tired!

S'the only time I've paid for anything medical with this fetus. Cause it wasn't actually a medical scan...just a "new parents like to look at their fetii and pay good money for it" kind of scan. Aureilia (and us too) reeeeally wanted to know if it was a "bruvver or sister" instead of just a "meestery" (as Aureilia used to say when we didn't know the sex: "That baby is a meestery.")

Mystery solved.

I love the difference btw the free scan at the public clinic and the $200 "just for fun" scan at the private clinic.

"No children! Only one other person! No cameras! Hey this is a MEDICAL scan! Everyone watch out! No talking! Just wait in that hard plastic chair till we're good and ready to have you! $10 for a strip of measly-ass thermal fax paper screencaps! Get out! Next!"

Except nobody knows how frequent ultrasounds can affect a developing fetus, so the practice of doing repeated ultrasounds without medical indication is considered somewhat shady in medical circles. Of course, we do medically unnecessary circumcisions all the time, so what do we know?

I've never had a level III U/S...but I've had plenty of Level IIs. And you're right, Dis, my OB wasn't exactly thrilled with all the U/S I had to have because this preg. was high-risk, but we needed to make sure the baby was OK.

Awesome ultrasound! The baby looks great!

I had 5 ultrasounds with my Abby. They were doctor recommended, though. They were watching a fibroid that turned out to be my vertebrae. Even with all of those pictures, though, Abby was still a surprise. She just would never let them see.

Congratulations! And great name.
