The thing about my husband is that he's been doing induction for probably two months now. I'm afraid his liver's going to implode. On the other hand, he's lost two pant sizes and looks great. Of course, this is what he always does. The man is a yo-yo.

Given that I don't personally fry things very often and our propane stove doesn't really get enough juice to keep oil as hot as it needs to be for deep frying, I think I'll just quietly pretend I didn't even consider this...

I was also thinking of using green tomatoes to make chutney, but that's definitely not low-carb.

My husband does the same thing, only he's done induction for over 6 months at a time before. The man certainly doesn't lack for willpower. He just gets busy and gets careless, and pretty soon he's back to his old bad habits. He never has gained all of the weight back, but he does fluctuate, and he's never made it down to ideal body weight. He gets bored, discouraged or busy before he gets close.

Well, at least he doesn't gain it all back. Jaime does get down to his ideal weight, then tends to push it further into unhealthy territory, then he gets sick or something and falls off the wagon. Then over the next six months to a year he'll steadily gain it all back and add extra for good measure. It makes me nuts watching both extremes, but I have to just stay out of it and try to get him to at least take vitamins.

Ugh . . . don't get me going about the horrible Atkins diet. It goes against everything I ever learned about healthy eating. It very obviously doesn't work for my husband, and yet for the last three years he only eats expensive cuts of meat on a bed of spinach. ARRGGHH.

Well the upside is at least I don't have to cook for him.

Well, actually everything we learned about healthy eating may be wrong. Atkins does work pretty well for a lot of people -- better than high carb diets anyway. And it does warn against overdoing the cured meats, which is probably where the greatest danger in it lies.

I'm just not willing to do anything that extreme unless I'm desperate.

I'm AU$1600 poorer than I was last week (not including $250 for contacts so I could see the Great Barrier Reef) and my sunburn itches, but I had a fabulous time up in the tropical part of Australia. I got to snorkel over the Great Barrier Reef! It was an astonishing experience to be swimming over coral and practically in schools of bright fish.

Coral and fish, a picture I took here at Michaelmas Cay, the 1st snorkel site.

I bet I was the only one on the boat who, when the divers were going down, thought briefly of Trip...

Hey we're ALL thousands of dollars poorer this week than last week. At least you have something to show for it: Suburn and beautiful memories. Looks wonderful.

Splendid images!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

So Australia is going into summer now and Wisconsin is going into winter, sigh. Great photos, JK. The water is so...so...blue!

Cool experience there, JzK! 8)

Someday I must go and see that for myself, even if I'm a really lousy swimmer.

I want holidays, I want holidaaaayyys!! :(

*aheam* Today I've recited lesson 31 of Penal Law: "Crimes against sexual freedom and indemnity"; which is more funny or awkward than disgusting, truth be told. I mean, you have to say (with a straight face) things like "indecent touchings" or "acting on the same lustful impulse". And the lesson is full of latin expressions like "coniuctio membrorum" or "labium maius" which is, I guess, the pedantic version of "ohhh... talking about sex is sooo embarrasing, let's use euphemisms" :D

And then there are things that are just too mind-bloggling like considering that lesbians can't, in purity, commit "sexual abuse" (rape mode, I mean) except if they use, how can I say this with delicacy? "body parts or other objects" (I suppose that the book means a woman attacking other woman). But later it says that just touching the "labium maius" is cosidered rape so... I just can't think of a circumstance where you can avoid that... OK, yes, there is one, but only one. But still, the funniest crime is the called "fraudulent sexual abuse", which happens when somebody have sexual relations with someone older than 13 but younger than 16 using a ploy or deception. You know, if you're sixteen and want to make out with your 15 years old girlfriend, don't tell her you love her to get what you want, it's a crime  (sorry, but it's just too funny).

Anyway, talking about something totaly different, today my mother was in the mood that this comic strip of Mafalda represents :D :

Not to worry, you can strap a flotation device on. I can swim but I'm not a superb swimmer so used one. That way I could relax, gawk, and take pictures without worry.

Yes, and I'm coming home in mid-November. That's going to be a bit rough.

I like this way of thinking about it!

I want to know if that picture is photoshopped, ek, or if someone in the Fish and Wildlife Branch has a really warped sense of humor.
