A deadline that just cannot be ignored! Since i'm a terrible procrastinator it works for me to work at a newspaper. There's a deadline every day...

A trip to Poland I took with a friend in 1988 or 1987. All sorts of things happened.

First we decided to fly from Poznan to Warsaw since it was dirt cheap (this was back in the commie days where the monetary exchange was very generous, especially if you used the black market). It was on a horrible old propeller aircraft that seemed to be held together by duct tape. In the back there were two beefy military policemen with giant revolvers in their holsters (this was just after someone had hijacked a plane and made it fly west). We were served caramels on a tray by an older stewardess with way too much makeup who probably thought she was 20 years younger than she actually was.

Then when we arrived in Warsaw there were absolutely no hotel rooms to be found anywhere. So we had to make due with renting a cabin at a camping site. After a late night we found out that they locked the gates early and we didn't have a key to the gate so we had to climb over the high fence. Thank God no one spotted us.

Getting back from Warsaw we decided to take the train. But there were no seats left, so we had to sit on our luggage at the end of one of the carriages. There the toilet door couldn't close properly and this was the dirtiest toilet you could ever imagine. Some had taken a dump, but it had fallen on the ring and not inside (he probably didn't want to actually sit on the toilet for obvious reasons, but then his aim wasn't that good).

There is more, but I think you get the general idea... Today we can laugh at it! :?

Oh, I forgot making a new question. Well, here is one.

Q: Your best vacation ever and why (not counting a honeymoon if you're married)?

OH! That was a pretty horrible vacation, but entertaining for us!

It's very difficult to choose one, but I guess it was when I went with few other people to the northern Finland and hiked in the northern wilderness where the mobile phones don't work, there aren't any trees, it was summer so the sun was up all day all night there wasn't any difference and no way of knowing if it was day or night, there was still a bit snow and the water was so cool, clear and refreshing and we slept in tents and saw lots of reindeers and climbed to Finlands highest peak (not a mountain only 1300m high) and in the end of our vacation we went for a helicopter ride to see the area from the air and then we also visited Norway and the Artic ocean.

Q:If you could go to an adventure trip (visit Antarctica or climb to Mount Everest and so on) would you and if you would where would you want to go and what kind of adventure?

I would pick a rock climbing adventure (and since I no longer am that strong) it would be like repelling (going down) rather than climbing (going up). Oh! And then a trip down the rapids in a raft (that would be part 2 of the trip), which I successfully spelled with a lower-case "T"! There would be camping.

Question: What is better? A summer vacation or Christmas?

Summer vacation is much more relaxing, so I'll vote for that.

What do you mean you're not as strong as you used to be? Maybe you need to start doing some weights, JT. You have to get ready for those future grandkids!!! You might need to lug a giant telescope across a field somewhere!!

Seriously. A little strength training is A Very Good Thing.

If tradition didn't dictate a turkey for Thanksgiving (or substitute some other meal traditional to your country), what would you REALLY want to have?

I don't like turkey. :? In my house, my "big sister" married a Chinise guy, so we eat Chinese food (home made, but still...) on the holidays. Mom used to make filet mignon for Christmas every year, and I loved it! I'd love to have that. I have nothing against mashed potates and gravy, though.

Do you have any particular holiday traditions?

Anybody else have that thing where you go around the table and everybody has to say what they're thankful for?

Sooo...what in your life are you most thankful for?

an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

This is probably gonna sound stupid, but one of the things I'm most thankful for in life is fandom.

Because of it, my mom and I have done a lot of neat things together, like go to cons , take a trip to Las Vegas, etc.--stuff I"m gonna remember fondly for the rest of my life.

It's given me a creative outlet, and a "safe haven" in which to hone my craft.

It's stimulated my imagination.

It's where I met one of my best friends, Sheryl.

And, one of the highlights of my fannish career--Michael Dorn kissed me!

And there's all the neat people I've met online, people I otherwise wouldn't have encountered, friends I've made near and far.

So yeah, a mere TV show can really matter--a lot.

So with that idea in mind, how has Star Trek affected YOUR life in a positive way, other than providing hours and hours of entertainment?
