Question, is everyone who has to wear glasses (or contacts) considered like "legally blind", or does it depend on the level or something

I don't even know what "legally blind" means or what the definitions are.
My vision is crap, but I'm certainly not blind as I've come to understand the term.

This is the definition I found on wikipedia:
So, no, I'm not legally blind. You pretty much have to be wearing those coke-bottle glasses from the sound of that definition (and still not being able to see very far) to be considered "legally blind"...
ETA: the article goes on to say
In North America and most of Europe, legal blindness is defined as visual acuity (vision) of 20/200 (6/60) or less in the better eye with best correction possible. This means that a legally blind individual would have to stand 20 feet (6 m) from an object to see it with the same degree of clarity as a normally sighted person could from 200 feet (60 m).
So, no, I'm not legally blind. You pretty much have to be wearing those coke-bottle glasses from the sound of that definition (and still not being able to see very far) to be considered "legally blind"...
ETA: the article goes on to say
In many areas, people with average acuity who nonetheless have a visual field of less than 20 degrees (the norm being 180 degrees) are also classified as being legally blind.

We actually had a teacher at my high school who was considered legally blind. He couldn't get a driver's license, but rode a moped to work every day... He was one of the football coaches.

I've worn my glasses since 1st grade, and I've gotten slightly worse each year. The last 7 though, I haven't been bad enough to require new lenses. I tried contacts for a while in 9th grade, but after one of them managed to tear in half in my eye and lodge itself under my lower eye lid for 30 minutes while my mother tried digging it out, that pretty much ended that for me. I was never big on touching my eyeballs anyway.
As for my height, I reached 6'1" in 11th grade and have only grown outwards since.

When I was in my 20s my vision was 20/18 and could see 7th amgnitude stars in a clear dark desert sky.
Now at 56 my vision has deteriorated to 20/40 in the good eye and much worse in the other. I can pick up 3rd mag stars on a good night.
Each step in magnitude is equal to a 2.5x change in brightness. So I have lost 4 magnitudes.
I new need reading glasses (2x) for most close work and the computer screen but do not require glasses for driving yet.
Enjoy what you have while you have it as noone knows what the future offers. Though for most humans eyesight usually degrades with age.
Oh yeah, there are exceptions I read that Chuck Yeager still had 20/10 eyesight well into his 70s. Bastige!
