Ah. I think it's a lovely town. I was visiting a friend from my Florida high school up in Bear Lake, where her family summered. She introduced me to under-age drinking at the Blue Slipper Tavern in some other little town up there.

She then went on to become a full-fledged alcoholic. Sigh.

My great aunt and uncle live in Northport, just outside of Traverse City, right on the lake. When I was a kid my grandparents would take me up there for visits...Uncle Jim owned a bait shop and Aunt Geneva was a nurse at the hospital in Traverse City. When I was little sometimes they got so much snow, Aunt Geneva sometimes had to take the snowmobile to work instead of the car!

I haven't been up there in years...I miss the lake.
